Either a way to reset Larzuk quest. Or an item to earn to duplicate Larzuk quest. It gets tedious asking for larzuk quest in a throwaway character. I know I’ll get “Plan out your characters better” but c’mon man!

with shared stash speedrunning a sorc to act 5 with some minor twinking gear has never been easier 
and a fun activity
and you can keep improving the twinking gear collection with time too.
or you could do druid or assassin, just a tiny bit slower but a lot easier

I tend to agree with OP that rush a hero for a socket seems like there could be an alternate way.
Just make it much more expensive to put a socket in a unique so that rushing a new hero is still the optimal way.
For example
Make me Decide between using my UM rune to get a socket or rushing a new hero (just an example)
Op is talking about a future change. I must disagree with your statement about it being easier. We will now have to run through act 3 in its full length and that will add more time and challenge to some characters.
Perhaps give essences some other use like adding sockets to items in a new cube recipe? We definatly need more cube recepies 
This is what I do, makes the game even more fun collecting and upgrading your twink gear to speed run chars
If you’re really so lazy to not play the game to get an item socketed, just do “Pul4LarzukRush” or whatever, really shouldn’t be a big deal I imagine plenty would spend 5 minutes to get a Pul and help you get your Larzuk. Or just have one friend. As for solo players, idk, I guess they don’t get to just be lazy and not play the game to get their socket quests, boohoo? I’m not opposed to more ways to get the “socket quest” reset or currency like token to reset it or whatever, but it is certainly entirely unnecessary.

I think they could create a new receipt using the standard of heroes that allows to socket an item. So at least we can make something out of these.
