I forgot that running reduce block / defense. Good reminder!
Life is derived from Vitality, same as Stamina.
Mana is derived from Energy.
Removing stamina would change the game a lot. You don’t understand how defense mechanisms work while running vs walking.
Paladin is obviously using magical energy to swing weapon so fast so many times with extra force.
If anything, they should change stamina so that your defenses are lowered (as if running) when you are at zero stamina.
I’m actually surprised they are even able to load the game if the stamina function is causing their PC to struggle.
I’d agree. I’d be interesting in seeing how they hacked a TI-84 graphing calculator to run D2.
His 386-20 must be cooking hard.
(I actually played Tie Fighter on a 386-20, it ran pretty good)
386-25 = 0.04 mflops
Ryzen 9 3900x = 19834 mflops
The 3900x can do roughly the same work in one second that a 386-25 takes 5.74 DAYS to do.
what are you talking about ?
its barely noticeable in early game and stops being a “problem” mid game
(buy a few stamina potions at the beginning every now and then and you are golden)
btw i like stamina btw because its another small layer to feel char progression
99% agree. The exception being that odd time you’re playing Hardcore in Hell difficulty in A3 and a manaburn mosquito lands a hit on you.
I guess the swarm bugs could do this too, as early as A2. But generally, they’re easier to kill because they’re slower.
No,Stamina is fine. Use Stamina potions! Also,Stamina is not a problem later game, stop complain about everything.
Nothing is wrong with it but these people feed on annoying people on this forum. Just relax and ignore them.
Blizzard talked a little bit about the stamina bar here. It looks like they considered changing it but decided against it since it connects to certain items stamina potions and items related to stamina.
I disagree with their Blizzard/VV current take and so do all the original D2/D2:LoD game directors (Brevik and the Schaefer brothers). At the end of the day, it is what it is.
i dont care if its removed or not. its only annoying when you start a new character. if i had to vote one way or the other. i would definitely vote for removing it. its a minor thing regardless.
remembering to pick up stuff → to sell → to stock stamina pots is a good part of early game.
Leave as is
This surprises literally no one. Game Rant, by the way, is a terrible source that posts incredibly biased articles with little regard for logic or balance in the game.
I’d rather say. Remove Hit Recovery. It is sooooo annoying until you have gear or abilities that reduces it to zero. It forces you basically to attack mobs from within a doorway, but really what’s the point except for this -imho- minor tactical play requirement. You have no chance to survive if you get surrounded by a mob in the early game. And I am also not a fan of having to pick up your gear and gold from your cadaver.
What I am really not looking forward to is Act III. Those Fetishes just made me almost angry, because it takes forever to get rid of them and is the worst grinding I have ever experienced in a game.
I propose for D4 to have a toggle for hit recovery for those hardcore D1/D2 player who still want it, I don’t.
I mean… having hit recovery is a better simulation of actual combat than not having it. D3 is wide open to you if you want that kind of experience.
As I said, it’s a question of preference, and there are people who prefer D2 and those who prefer D3. I don’t judge though on which side you are, it’s personal preference.
Irrespective of the bias, the article does provide direct quotes from Blizzard/VV so that you can see their (Robs & Michael’s) thought process. That is what is most important in that article and not the Game Rant author commentary.
A valid point. My contention would be that it is still hard to accept all of the stuff that comes from Game Rant. How can I be sure they aren’t cherry picking things and… presenting an interpreted version of events?
At least relative to this article and more specifically the Blizzard/VV’s quotes about the stamina bar, does it seem accurate?
I realize that none of us were in the room but not everything one encounters on the internet is wrong or fabricated.
LMAO omg these are some good comments. Making my Friday go faster!
