I can’t be the only one here who feels cheated that they removed TCP/IP from the game!?
It seems petty to remove and claim that you have the players in mind when doing it, I’m pretty sure alot of us pre-ordered with the promise that it would be like the golden days, only better looking/sounding/handling. And I’d hate to have to connect to a server somewhere else, with worse ping than LAN when I want to play the game with my partner who is sitting less than 3 feet away from me. And also what to do when the internet is down or the servers are down and you want to play? Atleast release some sort of dedicated server I can run from my computer then so we can keep it internal!
no need for it. you can play single player without internet. for those that want mods and sht, play a different game with mod support. never understood why they would allow something like tcp/ip when it was a known factor for the botting community. eliminating it might help eliminate many bots and cheats.
bravo por ese cambio si quieres esta el clasicod2
Are we sure we can play singleplayer without internet? Have they said that it will work without internet? Do you remember that they promised that Diablo 3 would be avaliable to play without internet? I think eliminating it will just prolong the inevitable outcome. And it didn’t cover the want of playing LAN-games
From what I see you guys are posting about things you don’t understand. Do some searching online about what hackers can do with tcp/ip. It is a very complex issue I don’t understand. I’m just scratching the surface of it now. There are many vulnerabilities that come when using this for games.
Not going to go into detail but you need to do some homework on this one for sure. It’s too much information to post in here so just search online and you will find plenty of info on the vulnerabilities of tcp/ip.
To make a system “lock tight” so to speak would cost a lot more money and resources to do vs spending less money for a weaker system to combat cheating and hackers.
There is a good reason why this feature is gone and its not to make people angry or upset.
Nah there isn’t a good reason, diablo 2 will be filled with bots, cheaters, scammers, rmt, and exploiters galore regardless. So by removing it all they did was make it so the people who want to play offline in lan parties can’t, and people who want to play mods over the internet can’t. The only reason is blizzard profit, and that’s not a good reason.
Though there is already a cracked version with it, so you just gotta find it and hope the guy that got the private investigator sent to his house got it out before the pi came.
As for why blizzard did it, has nothing to do with anything other than thier calculation of making more money. They don’t want any one being able to pirate the game, and by pass thier login. Has nothing to do with stopping cheaters, bots, and rmt people.
I personally don’t care either way, I think diablo 2 is a shallow ancient game, with bad graphics, bad game play, with nothing to offer, and with out mods will be dead in 6 months. I just got it cause it’s free with diablo 3, and the 3 times my friend will play over the next 2 years. But I’m not ignorant enough to think it has anything to do with stopping cheating, and all to do with slapping modders on their faces, to make a few extra dollars.
It isn’t much different than beth and Microsoft making elder scrolls 6 Microsoft store only, with no mod support other than the ones they sell you. They are both just foul profit machines.
So you mean that you post something you don’t understand on a post where you claim they don’t understand what they are posting about? My head hurts! I don’t really care about botters and scamers because it doesn’t concern me, and it would seem blizz don’t really care either with all the hacking and such going on in their games that don’t include TCP/IP, what concerns me is that they promised to make a remaster as true to the original as could be and then they decided to remove a key feature just like that.
But on the other hand, there is a good reason why there are bots, scammers, rmt, and exploiters now isn’t there?
- To make money when they shouldn’t be because it isn’t their product, and in fact there stealing.
- Blizzard has every right to protect their investments and profits as should every company.
- Which company that exists in the Earth doesn’t want to make money and protect themselves from a threat?
- If I made a product and sold it, would I be happy that someone else used me for their own gain and purposes?
- Who in their right mind desires their own product to be pirated and done whatever the hell they want to do with it? Would you desire that upon yourself if you made something for someone else?
- Of course people work to make money, should people hand over their work to you and say “hey, you know you can just do whatever your little heart desires with it.”
Dude, ever heard about culture? Art, music, dance and more? There is always gonna be people wanting to suck the moneysack, riding on someone elses profit. And it’s always gonna be like that too!
Honest question… How would TCP/IP be used for botting on bnet? You said it was a factor, but how?
What I currently miss the most is the option for /playersX in multiplayer.
I have ALWAYS used this in singleplayer and with the same characters in local multiplayer, which I also used regularly.
Additionally, for singleplayer/local multiplayer I still have hope that 21:9 could be supported.
Without these options I will have much less fun - will still enjoy it as much as possible
Maybe your mistaken there. I’m saying that for ANY company. Did I mention the word greed there? No. People that have companies in this world like to make money. Just simple truth. Once again I’m not going to push the moral boundaries here. I’m not saying anything about greed. Just because I make money in life doesn’t necessarily make me greedy. Not going to argue about this topic. Anyways I’m done here, peace!
If they have shareholders, they are legally obligated to.
TCP/IP does not equal cheating and mods. It equals having a good time inside of your own home, not having to be dependent on someone else’s server. It equals owning a game and playing a game when servers are down. It equals LAN parties. It equals a damn good time.
The game will have a functioning pirated version regardless, sooner or later.
By removing the TCP IP, all they are doing is alienating some of their core fans and making them refund. By removing key features, they’ll end up with less copies sold, not more.
You’re not alone. I’m extremely saddened that TCP/IP won’t be included. Some of my best times on D2 were playing private TCP/IP games with my brother and a friend and making our own rules up. Like /players 8 and other things. It’s sad but they won’t listen to us, we’re the minority here.
It also equals playing online with cheats and mods, just cause you don’t doesn’t mean that’s not what it means.
Wouldnt matter if you were in the majority, blizzard isn’t going to do it not because of any other reason that, it would allow you to play online with pirated crack games.
It’s been pointed out time and time again. TCP/IP doesn’t Affect your time on Closed Bnet.
Nor does TCP/IP make it easier for bots or cheaters.
TCP/IP allows you to connect your game to your buddy’s game outside of closed bnet were you use offline saves and cut off from closed bnet online saves. So how are they using it to cheat on closed bnet?
Tcp ip is gone because of one reason, it allows people who pirate the game to play online with each other. That is the only reason it’s gone. They are hoping that the private investigator stopped the people with the cracked alpha from distributing it, but it’s already too late.
So they are hoping it will be to much of a hassle for these people to find the crack alpha with enabled tcp ip, and just buy it from them and play on their battle net where they have all the control.
So let me put it this way for you, if they still had tcp ip in their release, some one with the cracked game could join with some one with their version of the game. Which to them encourages people to not pay them money for thier game. It also means they have less control over what you are doing in thier game.
Diablo 2 r isn’t offline at all, at any time to my knowledge, unless you have the cracked game. They aren’t going to put it back in ever so let it go or get the cracked game. It’s like asking Microsoft to please release elder scrolls 6 not on the microgarbage store so we can have mods like Skyrim. They arent gonna do it.
Companies like blizzard like to have control, and get scared when they don’t. So here is a example I used with some one else, chuckle fish made Starbound, they sold prolly like 5 million copies I would guess or so. That game has zero DRM, and you literally can just open the files up and change them. You could just put the game on a USB drive and give it to some one. Blizzard stance is, they want the pennies from the outcasts that pirate the game. So chuckle fish were blizzard they would of probably sold 6 million with DRM and lock down code, who knows it would of been more though.
Blizzard on the other hand is a company that locks down everything, and hates any one attempting to own thier games. They own thier game, you own nothing, and they will revoke your access to thier rented game when ever they feel like it.
I never did and never will play TCP/IP, so I didn’t really care if they add it or remove it. However, if it really poses a risk to online play, like they claim, then I’m glad they are removing it.
