Option one: Similar to a gem shrine but with runes.
Option two: Random Rune to drop by chance.
Option three: Create the Uber countess event where it summons uber countess and gaurentees pul-zod drop + super uniqueish drop
Option four: similar to option two but its like a uber rune roll. Meaning it pops 098123756508753420987432907842137892341 el runes and might or might not pop a High Rune and makes the person sift through the massive amounts of garbage runes.

Other things that would speed things up:
Increase the top end rune drop rate. approx 0.0005% is crazy.
Make all runes a 2:1 roll to the next. This would speed the natural rolling up significantly.
Maybe make a runesplit recipe for the cube, so if someone gets a zod they don’t need, they can split it into 2 chams, split those into 2 Jahs, etc. Make it interesting tho—
Zod split guarantees 1 Cham and Random Rune That is the level split / 2(RoundDown)+.
Meaning a Zod definitely splits into a Cham and UP to a Cham from Io. Its still the RNGesus that the world of diablo demands while offering alternatives to get what players need----and would even increase the values of some runes even better. A Cham would net you a definite JAH and UP to a JAH from HEL. A JAH would net you a BER and UP to a BER from DOL.
Different gambling.
I would think that making the hellforge a repeatable quest would solve many problems, tbh.

Absolutly not, don’t touch the drop mechanics nor the dropchance of runes. This will absolutly destry the economy. The economy is already flooded with pul - Zods. Just play the game and eventually u’ll find good runes. High runes are not intended to rain from the sky like BIS items in Diablo 3. This is the endgame here , grinding for a long time until u get the best gear. You can always accelerate this process buy trading items vs runes. So no your idea is total nonsense.

because u obviously don’t know how to play the game. I am fully geared on my sorc, hoto, cta, tal armor, shako etc. . Learn how to play the game and you’ll see more of those runes. Just because you are bad, doesn’t mean the game has to be changed for you.
I’m playing the game just fine.
I’ve got a tanky sorc that plows through anything and everything with good dps, high defense, block, and resist. I too have a CTA, lidless, eschutas, sw, kira85, mara, wartrav, and even 2 soj. I traded for lidless and eschuta only, as well as mal ist ohm to make the cta.
Problem is I HAVE to trade for runes.
HAVE to trade. I don’t WANT to HAVE to trade. Trade should be a convenience not a requirement.

I cant wait till you new players will just go back to playing D3. I don’t understand why do people like you want every game to be easy? Why can’t we die hard D2 fans not have ONE game the way we want it?

But one thing is for certain, if we start changing anything surrounding any drop rates, especially for runes, then ladder would need to be MUCH shorter once it starts being a thing.
I also don’t get that. Its a 20 year old game at its core.
Also I’m not a new player. I’ve been an avid D2 fan since 2000. I got banned from the D3 forums about eight years ago for shrieking about how god awful it was in so many ways compared to D2.
I don’t want D3-2. I want D2 with PD2 drop rates. Their drop rates are reasonable and attainable without being “economy wrecking.”
If PD2 could mod D2R I would not be on blizzard’s servers at all.

runes aren’t a requirement either, your logic doesn’t make sense. Since you are plowing through the game , you don’t need higher runes for even better items. Just grind and stop your logical nonesense.

Rune drops should be more common. That’s it. Period. I’m not saying “make it rain.”
Bring it up to PD2 standard. Game will get better. The point of the game is to enjoy the game. Not stress out over trading. Trading does not necessarily add more to the game. By the same token, D3’s “trading system” was a joke. Being unable to share gear with friends was stupid.

no they don’t need to be more common , the game was succesful for over 20 years. People like the game it is. It’s a remaster … the drops are fine. Just grind and play the game. Always the same little kids moaning about the drops. Waaaaah i want more runes wahhhhhhhhh…
No, go play d3 as it is clearly the game for you, whether you admit it or not.

If all the top players are already fully geared in 60 days after launch, isn’t D2R a complete joke in difficulty already?
