The new charge animation has crushed synch. it still works, but abysmally compared to how it’s always been. It is a massively integral part of the game. Ive played D2 well over 10k hrs in my lifetime and spent countless hours Dvd’ing to perfect synch. Thats by far my fav char to play.
From the beginning yall have committed to and by in large faithfully holding to the promise not to change the game in significant ways.
removing synch is a significant change. yes most ppl who are not gg dins complain about it.
well, i’m not a good sorc and I could complain all day about 1 shot blizzards or fbs or tele stomps or tele locking ect.
I know big names like MrLlama have complained about synch alot and want it gone from the game. But in the next sentence they praise all the other lil “bugs and glitches” and how horrible it would be if they were gone… They want all the other stuff in the game, but want synch removed. wtf?
ppl keep saying it’s “the new servers” thats complete and utter nonsense. All the old laggyness was there in Beta and in some instances even worse. Only reason synch is dysfunctional is the new charge animation which is a continuous motion as opposed to the old blocky animation.
Many players have spent hundreds of hours perfecting synch just like others have perfecting blizz/fb sorc/tele/druid stomping ect.
Please don’t screw us din mains over to placate a loud minority. If your not gonna fix rest of bugs (as you shouldn’t and I appreciate you not) you shouldn’t nerf Synch.
They should fix bugs, and desync is a bug that should be fixed. The fact that we have gotten used to it doesn’t make it good. Its exploitative and the gameplay suffers because of it.
No they shouldn’t, thats why they’re making Diablo 4 and not Diablo 2 Remake. They’re make Resurrected and the sole promise they made from day one was to NOT change game or get rid of bugs.
Part of why Diablo 2 has lasted almost 15yrs w/ hundreds if not thousands that still play it fairly consistently is because of the “bugs” We didn’t “get used to it” we adapted to it. And many of us put in thousands of hours in perfecting it.
My point is the developers committed to NOT fixing bugs. Also, the main point of my post was the hypocritical stances of some big names on wanting most bugs/glitches to stay, but complaining hard about synch and wanting it removed.
that being said, you have the stance of ALL bugs should be removed. I respect your opinion, albeit I completely disagree.
Said bugs need to be fixed or incorporated as an actual feature of the game. If the bugs or glitches are left as is, players that aren’t aware of them and new players will look at it negatively and have a bad experience.
The wisest thing they can do is incorporate them so that they are a part of the game and work the same way they do as a bug, but have actual documentation or functionality from within the existing code.
I agree fully that certain bugs have become a part of the game we know and love and that is why I suggest they incorporate them officially.
Others, such as this bug the OP speaks of, breaks the balance of the game. As I have stated in older threads… Just because someone uses something for the last 20 years does not mean it was intended to be used this way. Blizzard North and then Irvine neglected to fix it, that is all.
And these influencers having closed door meetings with D2R devs and definitely suggesting synch removed. My point is asking Blizzard to not listen to this loud minority and leave an integral part of the game alone.
I would love to see the documentation around desync. “So, our net code is awful and the client/server are very frequently not in tune with each other. Therefore, you can leverage this to kill other players who don’t even know you are there”.
Didn’t original D2 dev fix the weapon swap glitch once, but then brought it back? That would make it “not a glitch” anymore and a part of the game I would think. It also does set a precedent for leaving “game play altering” glitches in place for the remaster. I would probably prefer a fix, but from a neutral perspective, I think the people who want it all left in the game have more solid ground.
You can’t see a blizzard if it’s casted while your locked. You get hit before you know you got hit.
How is this different than my hammers?
besides, it doesn’t suck. it just takes TIME and EFFORT to learn how it works to counter it. This is my point. If you don’t like it, learn how to beat it. Don’t lobby to have it removed.
They brought it back but left it in the sorry state of a bug rather than re-code it to be officially implemented, so it’s still a glitch by nature but one that they recognize as a part of the game.
People learn of this not because of documentation or by playing the game on their own with the interface somewhere saying “this does this!”, they learn of it because of people who wrong them by using the feature in PVP or because they saw someone use it and wanted to know how to do it too.
Yeah I left out an integral part of my response, which was supposed to be something along the lines that “If it affects the core aspect of the gameplay’s balance, then it should just be fixed”
Is it an advantage if you know how synch works and someone your pvping doesn’t? of course it is. But if your halfwhat intelligent, you figure out within a few deaths how it works and you can go make a game within an hour be fairly proficient in it.
it’s also an advantage to have 1 shot blizzards if someone doesn’t know or have the means to stack CR and cold absorb so you can tank a few blizzards. If your CR remotely sucks, your getting 1 shotted by any half way competent sorc.
This is Diablo 2 Resurrected, not Diablo 2 Remake.
It is mind boggling to me how many comments/suggestions I see that are suggesting to make D2R like D3.
Existing for 20 years =/= intended use.
The bug you speak of is neglectful programming and has always been.
Things like Weapon Switch Glitch however provide a stopgap as a much needed mechanic for PVP because of the nature of stunlocks… They could nerf Stunlock but then that opens a whole can of worms for balance. WSG provides an alternative that doesn’t harm anything, and allows users to be able to play on even terms while still relying on knowledge of breakpoints and how to play your character efficiently.
And here it is. This what im talking about. And why i’m arguing for Blizzard to hold to their initial promise to LEAVE EVERYTHING ALONE.
It drives me crazy when ppl argue for some glitches/bugs that THEY LIKE but argue for others to be nerfed. I HATE this attitude. Theres plenty I don’t like, LIKE WSG. But I don’t want it changed. WhY? because it’s big part of the game.
LEAVE THEM ALL ALONE. Is my stance. Not keep synch, but nerf these others I DONT LIKE.
That is by definition NOT fair.
The fairest and truest thing to do is Leave them All Alone.
It is almost like things are nuanced, and people can feel differently about one thing compared to another.
That said, I am in the ‘fix all the bugs’ boat. I am not particularly interested in retorts of “go play…”, “but its a remaster!”, or any of the purity tests purists like to subject people to before they are allowed to have an opinion.
