Please create an expansion pack to Diablo® II: Resurrected

Hi Blizzard, please create an expansion pack to Diablo® II: Resurrected once it comes out. Many members of the Diablo II community are urgently asking that Blizzard please create an expansion pack. Thank you kindly.

as much as i would absolutely love more additional content to play after i finish D2LoD, theres pretty much a negative percent chance of this happening unless D2R sells absolutely mind-blowing numbers and blizzard just has to cash in. Even then i think their focus would be more so on D4 and their newer games, not trying to milk a 21y old remaster.

D2R is going to be big. But i think it would have to sell like 10m copies in the first year for them to even consider it.

In a way I agree, but in a way I feel D4 covers most of what people would be asking for anyways.

D4 has new areas, new classes, new items, new skills, instanced loot, seasonal only buffs/items, etc.

D2R is for nostalgia, primarily, what could an expansion actually offer that D4 won’t?

I’m not really against an expansion for D2R, I just feel like it would be a little weird, as it would probably be late 2022 before they even thought of offering an expansion for D2R, giving it a year, and by that point D4 will be much closer to release…

Meh…sure I guess, more Diablo is always good. Except Immortal, but whatever I guess some people will like it.

And many others ask for exactly not doing this.

Keep D2R they way it is and please focus on creating a worthwhile D4 experience instead.

Why do you keep speaking for the community as if you know what they want… very little asking for expansion.

So much potential and I feel they’re heading in the right direction. Too much drastic item change per season could really derail that game I feel though.

I love that they’re talking about damage numbers in the hundreds/thousands, not millions, billions, and trillions.

It’s Blizzard, so they’ll probably do something stupid, but man the druid looks fun as hell to play.

No thanks. This is a remaster, not a whole new game. People never listen!

Yeah I fear that too - but overall I´m looking forward to try D4 out.

Atleast the “usual” Blizz faults are fitting a modern game like D4 better than they would fit D2.

Yep. Like, I’m hoping the pvp system is fun and a bit dynamic in D4, with the shard gathering system, but even if I get a few really good dungeon crawling seasons, with some really good PvM content, I’ll be overall satisfied.

I mean, let’s be real, I still play PoE, and it’s stale as hell for me right now. I feel that Arpgs are just, in their nature and to their core, really hard to keep a balance of both ~

A - injecting fresh content, while also
B - keeping a reason to want to “build up” characters after a season is over

If you keep injecting too much new/ powercreepy content, you run the risk of the game getting too different all the time and never building characters for any purpose, as items are constantly different.

But obviously not enough content, creates a system where people feel the gameplay is stale and “they already made that build”

Arpg design is hell, so I’m going to give PoE2 and D4 both about half my time, each, and see which feels better. So far I prefer the systems in D4, but it’s early, we will see.

The biggest problems with an expansion now, is even if original documents and direction for what was planned still existed and were able to be found within the Blizzard company (highly doubtful, and there is too much negative history between original creators and Blizzard to ask them, especially considering there has been no communication between them for the remaster), they would be unusable for anything but mechanics/features. The story took it’s own direction with Diablo 3, and Diablo Immortal will be the story to bridge the gap between D2 and D3.

The original Diablo 2 expansion worked well, as Baal was alluded to within the original game. Any attempt to try to ram a new villain into a D2 expansion will come off as a “pull from the rear end” and not feel natural. At the end of the day, this is a remaster and not a new branch to form expansion material from. They might, and I truly hope, that they may be able to breath fresh life into the game by way of live support in terms of balance and QoL changes, and additional content similar to current ubers, that are supported by their official community, with their safety features and social list connections, rather than relegation to simply play a mod.

I also doubt the chance it will happen, but I heard that argument before, when they released Diablo 3 a lot of WoW player kept saying “they just making it to ease the fans, they wont make a game that will replace WoW”

truth is, they want it to be successful and if it is, they will probably support it to an extant, a company is allowed to have more then one successful product, more money, more funding for future support, no reason for it not to happen

honestly thats a great point. The story itself is going to prevent any additional content or storyline being added. And i really dont see blizzard doing an expansion or additional content with zero story behind it. lol

? and they never. meaning that argument was correct. lol.

support it? of course. Add additional content or changes? no.

yes and they are now focusing their efforts on multiple other major projects they have that are far more lucrative than a 21y old remaster. lol. Again, if D2R sells insane numbers im sure blizzard will do something. But an entire expansion? not a chance.

Not happening. Ever. This will never happen. Never, ever. So get over it and play Diablo 4.

Chances look slim as it is.
But it is not impossible. And devs shouldn’t care about lore; writters always find tricks.
OG devs didn’t care about lore, it came mostly from Blizzard south.
Most important is how to expand on classes, skills, gameplay mechanics, etc.
If there is market potential and resources then it can happen. Maybe in a different shape than previous expansion though.

I would love an expansion… But Id rather we see how D2R goes first before breaking all of our expectations

So many haters…

I’d love an expansion of d2. D4 looks like a d3 reskin… Not going to buy.

Perhaps, in a couple years; there may be an expansion release that will bring us into Diablo Immortal; perhaps even visiting some of the same areas… just putting that out there;

has nothing to do with haters.
But that D2R will be a remaster and something like that usually does NOT come with an Expansion.
Blizzard just can not do that well anymore. Then the D2 Expansion would look like D3 or something… and I don’t want that.

i would love to know how much experience the thread starter has with D2 anyway…
something like “played an hour” but HERE screaming for an expansion would be VERY strange.
Just sayin…no hate but i have exaclty that feeling for most TEs in this forum.
Guys without ANY idea of d2 WANT some Stuff…

Just because there’s no precedent set doesn’t mean that is not possible… so that point doesn’t really hold weight

It’s also possible to have an expansion to Diablo 2 without turning it into Diablo 3

Lastly there is separation between classic Diablo and expansion there’s no reason why that couldn’t happen with the new expansion

D4 looks more like d2 than d3 thus far, but yeah don’t buy if you don’t like it that’s fine.
