Posting here as well for visibility, this was a commonly requested QoL feature back a few months back but it seems to have been forgotten. There’s no reason not to add an ilvl display to items, it would make crafting much more convenient as well as rerolling items for certain affixes (Vita suffix [41-45 life] on grand charms for example).
If “information overload” is a reason not to show it all of the time, just make it visible on items that it matters for only when they’re in the cube.
Or just have a toggle button or something.
Or do whatever they do in D3 IIRC or other arpg’s. ilvl displays when you hold the ctrl/shift/tab whatever key while pointer is on item, but not otherwise.
there is no reason to not have a fully functioning loot filter, it just makes the game that much cleaner
Off topic, but there is a reason… Not everyone knows or cares to learn all of the fancy syntax used to specify what to and what not to show. A simple loot filter on the other hand to hide common ignored items would be better. The various potions, ammo, scrolls, gold and even low quality items. And only to hide the labels, not the item models on the ground.
I’d like some sort of loot filter as well but let’s leave that for its own topic. Adding a loot filter system would be a more involved change, displaying ilvl is just switching the “ShowLevel” column in misc.txt/armor.txt/item.txt from 0 to 1. No work required.
It would be fantastic if this became an optional toggle in 2.5, especially after the addition of Terror Zones which will bring a lot of items with variable item level.
It would likely be minimal developer work for a huge QoL improvement that would improve crafting, cubing, socketing, rerolling, etc.
