Playing on Battlenet, single player game. The /players8 command doesn’t work.
Is this on purpose? If so, thanks for punishing us for daring to play solo online.

Lmao that’s a good one
try /players stupid, see if that helps
funny… not… trolling while your char is stuck?
Make sure you are OFFLINE mode, not ONLINE. the /players command only works in offline games with offline characters.
Online/offline is selected when your choosing/creating your character.
And the command does work fine and will tell you in the chat window when done correctly
Why am I getting mocked for this?
I honestly don’t see why the players 8 command can’t be used playing online single player. Feels like a totally arbitrary decision.
“Just play with 7 other people”
Yeah I tried that and got tired of all the loot being instantly vacuumed up by greedy strangers.
you’re not being trolled for wanting it. we all want it.
you’re being trolled for not knowing already.
Thank you kind hero! I was becoming confused.
We need more people like you.
I see why this should be disabled for ladder characters, but there’s really no reason to disable it for standard online characters.
Blizz please get on this asap.
because playing single player on online mode will make u able to trade ur stuff in trading game…
You have to play with teleporting seagull-like thieves if you want the loot rate of an 8 player game. If they had a fair loot system, this would not be a problem. Until then, either friends or solo.
Who exactly decides what’s “fair”?
That’s the real conundrum here, isn’t it?
thieves ?
I did not know that there are any NAMES on the Loot. If you are too slow you have just had bad luck.
Players 8 online would be bad for trading … but I don’t blame you for wanting it. Would be nice
you do realise the point of playing online is multiplayer based right? That means having multiple players joining your game.
The fact that /playersX command works in SP is that you can’t get ppl to join your games in SP, because single player.
In d2 it also worked on lan I used to play with players 8 modifier in 2 players. And since we no longer have Lan play … it’s only fair to expect it in online play. And regarding trading I don’t see how that’s a problem. Isn’t it the same as with other players playing in 8 players ?, just much harder to get due to the difficulty spike increase.
Also it should not work in a competitive environment aka ladder characters but for regular characters there really is no reason not to have it.
More players means more loot, which could impact to slightly improved odds of getting some useful stuff. The players command means more loot for less players.
Is the logic behind of folks who wants trade that begins to show the issue behind it.
The game has a thing called “no drop table” which the value decreases based on the amount of players in the game, but have some rullings behind it.
By example a hell bolvine usually have around 62% of no drop. At p8 you get about 6-12% of no drop.
Most bosses at p3(you+2) you have virtually 0% of no drop, if allies aren’t at same zone would need p5(you+4)
The players x command are equal to X players partied together in the same zone.
As general rule:
Any partied player without being in the zone has 1/2 of benefit on the calc of no drop table against a partied player at same zone.
The no drop table is affected by any number of players until reach 0 or the max number of players, what happens first.
Some content is a huge boost to incentive group play doing the same content, while others not so much. Doesn’t mean would drop more quality stuff, just more stuff and that’s the deal.
On bosses often doesn’t “worth” the additional effort, most would stop at p3 because their hp to run less but remove the 20ish margin of no drop.
Meaning p5 on players who would leech other players games for it would have to deal with a boss with +200% more hp. While on low odds content like cows can be “somewhat desireable” on bosses is mostly placebo effect, on cows can be produtive but again their hp would increase too much that could make things not much desireable.
Players x command can bring some challenge for players and reward it with slightly more loots, but drops per hour? Well isn’t great. Because you effectively reducing by 1-4 times your number of runs in the end for a marginal improvements on drops that often goes like 20-40% while your foes hp about 50-350%
So, the number of drops on multiplayer or players X are better, but doesn’t mean is the most efficient way to do it. Nothing really beats p1 on efficiency in that regard.
While experience is really great on that end, for farming items aren’t that great, can be useful, but not great. Can show some benefits on high populated areas with huge values on no drop, but often the “damage needed” to bypass the downside is often too high to be “efficient”.
I had been trying to do /players 8 in offline mode on D2R and it still wouldn’t work. Come to realize it was because I also didn’t have internet. Once my internet was installed and I was online while playing an offline character /players 8 finally worked.
This absolutely needs to be fixed. I’m incredibly tired of all these game companies making me be connected to their servers before I can play my already owned and downloaded games located on my personal hard drive.
That command did never work on Battlenet… Single Player game or Multiplayer game. It always only worked in offline mode…
I find your question weird… why a cheat code not works online. That doesn’t mean you should be mocked for asking it.
The reason is simple… the Online mode is more of a race. When the Season starts… everyone starts at zero and it is like a fresh start. Everyone tries to gear up again… the same thing happens in Diablo 3 Seasons and other games like Path of Exile Seasons.
If you do not like that… you can do it like I do it… play offline. There you have access to the cheat, you have no server lag of any kind… and can play the game up to however you want.
That is unless you want the help of other players.
I try the same “offline” but NOT WORK.
