Single player is for people who want to play alone or dont have internet. Its like saying because 20% of our population has d.u.i’s we all have to have breathe check starters in our cars
Its punishing in the aspect that there isnt enough players to populate your game on hardcore NL anyway lol
But than they wouldn’t have any ‘bragging rights’, as this is the crux of their request.
They don’t want trade, they don’t want to play with others and share/fight over the loot, yet they want to be able to bump their chest with all they were able to achieve, without all the effort involved.
Or they will invoke that in SP you can use hero editor, basically admitting they can’t help themselves cutting corners.
Already happens within 48 hours as I said… Do we really care if it happens sooner than that? Lets improve some QOL for all player types, not gate keep.
Never said it was, it was intended to boost players playing single player, so if you play solo online, its a great QOL to add in for that option. Just dont add it to any game with more than 2 players.
All Players X is, is a difficulty slider. You could rename the players x command to Torment levels ala D3 or D4, and it’d be the same thing. It’s the reason D3 and D4 are more solo player friendly in regards to loot acquisition and level grinds. Partying up is about efficiency; in D3, it’s tackling higher GRs faster than you could solo and having party synergy through use of zDPS builds, in D4 it’s primarily about farming Tormented Bosses for Mythics faster by sharing summoning resources. For D2, it’d still be party play of efficient synergy to speed through to Hell Baal, or rushing to endgame in general.
With that said, I’d still prefer actually having instanced loot to entice me to party beyond a simple rush or Baal runs for xp, but players x would be a lazy fix to give more parity between solo and multiplayer play, even if for many players, it would only reinforce the meta of what could tackle higher difficulty the fastest (which happens anyways).
with blizzard allowing multiple instances of d2r on the same machine…they will never do this…they will encourage you to play offline or buy 7 more copies and load them all into the game…is this stupid? yes it goes against the original ToS…but at the end of the day blizzard is a company and the only thing that matters to a company…is the fiduciary responsibilities they have with their share holders
