so basically right now im trying to hunt for Griffon’s Eye. Bad idea as i have heard but its OK since i am also in the lookout for whatever other good stuffs will drop.
but im getting confused with Player Count in Single Player offline.
it increases the level of the monsters by how much per Player Count ? or does it increase the monster level thereby increasing the treasure chest level of the killed monster ?
say im playing on P3 because i heard its ok to do Andariel and Mephisto on P3 and there is not much difference going any higher than P3 when it comes to chance of no drop. does increasing to P7 also increase the TC level ? does going down to P1 decrease TC level ? im asking this because it seems i can kill monsters and bosses faster on P1 than in P7 but im afraid i might miss on the chance to find unique items if i do that ?
currently im torn because even at P7 on 50 runs i get garbage repeated Unique weapons and 40% of the time i get no unique. life is tough

increasing player count increases the life of monsters (thus they might take longer to kill - what you have experienced), the experience they give and it decreases the no drop chance when creating drops. So the higher PC, the less likely it is that a monster will not drop an item.
Since you’re playing single player, it is as simple as this: P3, P5 and P7 decrease no-drop chance.
And this doesn’t affect bosses and champ packs. The former always drop potions and 1 item.
You can increase the monster level and the TC by playing in terrorized zones after you have killed baal in that difficulty.
Or he can do what everyone else is doing on single player offline (if not using hero editor) and run TZ Andariel with an area lvl of at least 91. The difference between lvl 90 and lvl 91 area is lvl 90 is a 1:22179 drop chance and area lvl 91 is a 1:2462 at which point it doesnt really change much with any further lvls, lvl 99 is 1:2443. In single player you can manipulate your time zone on ur pc so u can run 24/7 TZ Andy. This ofcourse increases with player count 3,5 and 7 so on P7 area lvl 91 its 1:1407 drop chance which only drops to 1:1396 at area lvl 99 so not a huge improvement beyond area lvl 91
This is btw the highest drop chance you will find for griffons eye on any boss in D2 when TZ. Andy FTW
FYI: P7 might be a bit overkill since ur char would have to be strong enough to kill andy almost as fast as on P3 to benefit from raising player count beyond P3, the drop chance on P3 area lvl 91 is 1:1641 compared to 1:1407 on P7
ALL calcualtions here was based on having 200 magic find which is pretty accessible for most chars so these can change a bit with higher/lower magic find. As an example with 400 mf and area lvl 91 the drop chance is 1:1369 on P3 and since mf has diminishing returns its not worth to go higher than about 250-300 mf if you have to sacrifice damage/clearspeed to get there
Silospen’s d2/d2r dropcalculator, pretty nice tool to calculate ur odds/dropchance when farming. Nice for doing holy grail when looking for specific uniques. This is why u should never skip TZ Andy when playing online if ur char is high enough lvl

Yeah most of it is pretty accurate except the part with Andariel quest bug affecting TZ drops, this got fixed during patch 2.6 and no longer causes issues with Andy drop table when terrorized. The Mephisto issue where he didnt drop items with a TC above lvl 78 was fixed too
BTW forgot to mention earlier there are some interresting interactions and double dipping on treasure classes once monster/boss lvl hits 96 and enter the so called TC 87+ drop table which significantly improve your drop chances for specific types of items when doing things like running TZ andy. Had to search a while to find a video explaining what i already knew but i eventually found one but i cant link on this forum

bear in mind that your char only needs to be lvl 91+ for bosses and unique monsters to be lvl 96 in terror zones since area lvl will be 93 when you are lvl 91 and bosses and uniques are 3 lvls above area lvl. Once u hit char lvl 94 every single monster will be lvl 96 and above
Yeah didnt see that one but i already knew much of this stuff. I have played this game for more than 2 decades and i also played PoE 1 since release so i am kind of used to doing research and investigation especially when new content gets added, u wont get far in PoE 1 as a new player without it thats for sure and every league has lots of changes in PoE so being updated becomes a must.
Compared to PoE 1, D2R is pretty simple to begin with which is not necessarily a bad thing and yet when you begin to dive deep enough into its mechanics it becomes obvious that it is still a pretty complex game while being simple on the surface which is one of the many reasons ill probably be playing D2R for many years to come
