if you run monster dense areas with monsters that have mlvl/ilvl that is equal or comparable to mephisto/pindle you increase your odds by killing 200 monsters every 5 minutes as opposed to killing 5 monsters every 5 minutes. the only reason meph/pindle were common areas were that the pathing was easy for early bot programmers and they had small pathing goals act 3 > durance 2 wp > teleport durance 3 > kill meph > red portal a4 > wp a5 > pindle red portal. it was a product of automation. if you’re playing the game without automation this is not the way to search for MF items. you’re missing a huge part of the evolution of the game
there are calculators out there that show drop chance for items, its widley known that bosses have significantly higher drop chances for many items in the game. Shako for example can drop off Andy / Meph / Baal / Cowking / Rakinishu / Griswold. level 85 zones. but the drop chances for unique mobs and mini bosses like cow king / rakinishu / griswold and elite packs is significantly lower than andy meph or baal. so while you might be able to kill those others all 3 of the mini bosses by the time you can do one andy run its still much higher probability andy drops it. this is true for MOST uniques and set items, bosses just have better drop ratios.
Runes though its all about the AMMOUNT of enemys you kill as MF doesnt effect runes at all only level of the mob on which rune can drop and act as well as player count. which is why high dense mob areas are more sought after for runes
bosses are able to drop more unique items at once and at a slightly higher rate and at a few thousands of a percentage point but this doesn’t make up for killing large amounts of monsters per minute. keep running 2,000 pindle runs a day and complaining about how you can’t find anything. skip all of the chests and unique mob bosses in high mlvl areas and wonder why you think the game is unfair
i can do the miniboss run about 4x in the time it takes me to do an andy run. thts kinda my point. its quantity vers quality.
I dont think the game is unfair, im happy with the drops i get from my boss runs, its why i do them. i dont have runes because i dont do high dense mob zones as much but i also am able to trade my items for runes i need
yeah but even with 4 runs of mobs the drop chances are still lower than a single drop from a boss typically.
Like it would take roughly 8x + as many pindle runs to = 1 baal run. and with current lock out timers you can kill baal in faster time with a lot of characters before killing pindle 8x. to get roughly same drop chances
and this isnt even including baals minions intot he equation for drop chances, but for the time
but you’re only quantifying the actual boss drops in the mlvl area that they reside in. you’re calculating one monster drops versus it’s time to kill the one monster and skipping all of the math of the monsters/chests/boss mobs that surround the area. it’s insane that people cannot grasp this concept.
my sorceress isnt able to do what i want due to gear availability…hence why i was spamming the crap out of pindle…i figured if i do this i can hopefully upgrade my stuff. cant do baal runs lol…everything gets picked up before you can see wtf it is…
You don’t have to be a bot programmer to know that Pindle, Eldritch, Shenk, and Trav are some of the fastest places to mf.
Nightmare Andariel is the best place to farm SOJ.
Mephisto is very easy to farm for a sorc at level 24.
Usually it’s a person already doing something repeatedly that discovers the technique to be automated not the person who can program.
but people do one of two things
- complain that doing NM andy all day hasn’t given them all of the free SOJS that they deserve for giving the effort of doing one single task for 5 hours straight when it’s built on luck and not effort
- treating the game as though the efficacies of bot programming (which parallels real human play) don’t meet their expectations but the bot programmers have the major advantage of their efficiency and selling point being that the bot works when the player is not so that the hardship and crushing depression of manually doing infinity runs of the exact same mouse clicks don’t result in the best items that have ever existed.
i don’t know how to articulate this point, yet, but doing meph/pindle/andy is akin to Melpone and you should not base your gameplay on this hyper efficient, narrow view (which used to be based purely on monetary gain in early 2000s diablo 2 item selling websites). it’s insane how many people have been trapped in this rut of a time past which is barely relevant to our current day
More people should just watch Human Bot Project or 1000 run videos to see how bad drops can really be.
there are a lot of youtubers who will show you the results of ther 1000 run sprees or 500 run sprees of generic boss runs and they end up with like a 25 maras and tals belt. some of the youtubers only show their greatest hits which inflate findings. if you do 500 meph runs (no other chests, monsters or peripheral item drop mechanisms), you should PRAY that maybe you find one shako… that’s it. if you run through catacombs and open every chest and kill every unique boss for like 50 runs you could expect the same outcome, but it includes killing much more and exerting more effort in the levels before you get to andariel
Pindle is okay. Occasionally gives more chance of good drop against the chance to die and loose lots of experience. But yes, way too boring.
- Press W
- Equip teleport staff.
- ???
bruh if you still using W for weapon swap you gotta get on custom hotkeys my G. Use like a mouse4 button for weapon swap
Is it wrong, that I still use F1-F9 for skills ?
River of Flame WP and work your way up to chaos. Then clear chaos. Best mf run for a undergeared hdin. Walking to pits (act 1) and clearing pits is a good run too. Just have a teleport charge staff on switch.
