Physical damage should be treated the same as elemental damage

It’s not the damage that is the problem for physical damage, it’s the aoe. A good physical build can 1 or 2 shot most monsters but the rate that it applies damage is much slower that spells. It doesn’t matter if your attack does 100k per swing if they only hit 1 monster at a time, caster will clear out mobs faster even if they do 20k damage but can hit 20 monsters at a time.

Completely agreed. I tend to only use multi hitting skills like Zeal, WW and Double Swing because of that. I never use concentrate or berserk. Double Throw with pierce might be decent these days, I don’t know.

Just because you don’t use berserk doesn’t mean it’s not one of the most powerful skills in barbs arsenal. It converts your damage to magic to completely ignore all resistance. Concentrate is weird and has very little fringe use.

Honestly some aoe skills just need minor tweaks. Multishot should start with 4 arrows not 2, jab and fend need damage penalties removed. Base weapon damage rework and durability maxing honestly is enough to fix most melee builds….

They don’t need to, and never will clear screens like casters can. Their benefit lies in boss clearing and survivability. Buff monster damage too while youre at it. They buffed base monster health but not how hard they hit? Also stop using baal as an example for your hit calculations lol. He is by design hard to hit. And block chance is far less annoying then you think. I don’t want melee to be smooth brain always hit no calculations. And neither did the devs. Thats why there are so many calculations. I’m sorry that casters got buffed to oblivion, don’t take it out on og game mechanics…

I don’t disagree about Berserk, I just don’t want to use it. Even if it one shotted everything, its super annoying to use. Having to click on each and every single monster - bah! Don’t have time for that.

It would make 4os blue armors more appealing. Being able to stack 50 flat phys damage off your chest would be nice. And before you say “fortitude.” Fortitude with scales skill damage and undead damage so its not that amazing.

Would be cool to have jewels that gave more power for the lower the rarity of item they are socketed in.

phys builds lack available sockets

If phys facets existed, maybe people would use rune words less?

No armor is appealing since Teleport exists only on Enigma. Period.

we usually use dual grief, but with said facets available i think runemaster would be the only contender

with 9 phys facets, 4 on each axe and 1 on helmt, rune master would still lose against grief by 10-20% bc of the inability to reach the 5aps

Good point which is why enigma needs to be removed.

Also phys damage on armor would be nice for bowzons as they dont run enigma anyways.

if your curious its because the “ghosts” dont have “bones”
which is what the barb is making the grim ward out of.

all “skeleton” monsters which have no “flesh” also don’t have a life or mana leech value.

at least some of the more annoying things balance wise make sense if you start to consider how much more “lifelike” they were trying to make the game.

all maces and hammer type weapons will also always spawn with 50% damage to undead… even crude versions

skeletons have bones but you cannot make grim wards out of them; and what the hell are you exploding in a ghost? ectoplasm?

tbh I’d love if the game followed these immersive rules everywhere, rather than very selectively\inconsistently. It would be a lot of fun but IMO it’s going too far for a diablo game (tbh even the no-leech from skeletons is unnecessary)
