Petition to change "Peace" runeword

so its no secret that this is a pretty neat runeword, but the problem with it is; its only cool for amazons. non-amazons lose the valkyrie after a bit of time due to some hidden timer - and this is my gripe with this runeword.

its already unattractive for non-amazons due to being obviously built for amazons, but if the valkyrie that can be spawned with it would actually stay until it dies it would become very attractive to other classes as well.

i’m a bit of a pokemon trainer, in that i love to have as many minions as i can get my hands on, particularly minion types my class doesn’t have access to through my skill tree, such as creeper vines, spirits, grizzly bear etc.

i was looking forward to making a “Peace” just so i could make a valkyrie that could accompany my skelly army and golem, but after looking up some details about how it works in practice for non-amazons, i was pretty disappointed and needless to say i no longer have any interest in making it.

so essentially, i’m petitioning the devs to make a slight change to the way “peace” works; simply allow the valkyrie to persist until it dies in combat - get rid of the timer.
a small but pretty significant change.

alternatively, allow mercs to proc it, so i can at least get it by chance intervals.

Well the class runewords were originally created in response to people complaining how difficult it was to obtain enigma/coh and not having a proper stepping stone… besides treachery they are pretty insignificant so I don’t think anyone cares…

Also mercs cannot cast it for a reason, i cannot remember what the issue was but when it was originally released 20 years ago it would cause the game to crash. It was one of many drop methods that were quickly patched up… They didn’t have the resources to fix it back then and they certainly don’t now…

seriously, remove the audio sound first, otherwise delete this runeword.

secondly, raise the cap to like 10 at once on the timer. same for amazons, except separate it from their base summon valk so that one never is effected ever.

thirdly, just redo it all and change Valk to like level +5 guided arrow or strafe or Freezing arrow.

fourthly, my favorite would be “ranged attacks have a 10% chance to cast plague javelin on striking”

That’s been changed in D2R, the Valk now stays without any hardpoints into Valk. This goes for other classes too so they can keep the Valk.

Even with the Valk not staying it’s a decent runeword for physical characters and mercs with the Critical Strike oskill, as well as FHR and cold res. The Slow Missiles proc is nice too when you’re surrounded by a ton of ranged monsters.

It’s not possible for minions to have their own minions in D2/D2R, just a limitation of the engine. As Guitars mentioned it was possible for the merc to proc Valk in old versions and it would cause crashes.

Yes, you can have a permanent Valk from Peace now.

small update; i just realized that not only is the valkyrie permanent (until she dies anyway) but you can actually switch armor after the proc and she still sticks around.
very positively surprising!
