People are so Dramatic

“You ruined a franchise”

“Everything is terrible”

“We demand a refund”

“The game is broke”

“Unplayable”

The only way I understand the frustration, is if you have very little time to play every day and that always happens to be during downtime/outages. Then I totally get it.

I would just like to offer the other side of the Diablo 2 Resurrected experience, and I know I’m not alone with this either.

Other than that, I personally have experienced like 95% uptime and I play a fair amount. I crash from time to time, but it’s not rampant. I experience 0 lagging or rubber banding. I have never waited longer than 20 minutes for a queue and that was one time. Any other queue has been less than 10 minutes. I have never suffered from a rollback. I think the graphical updates are amazing. I do NOT like the new character models very much, I’d love them to fix it, but it’s not a deal breaker. And all around I’m having a mostly uninterrupted blast playing and it was worth every penny of the $40.

¯_(ツ)_/¯

Well i can understand them to be mad because they want to play … But to go as far as to ask for a refund and sue them … not really  Just play something else until they fix and start the season :stuck_out_tongue: Anyway PoE sourge comming soon =DD !

So you are saying you are having a great time and people who aren’t are dramatic?

No people who are dramatic about it are dramatic. There’s nothing wrong with reporting the issues you’re having or voicing concerns. But people take it a thousand miles further than that.

Was it necessary for them to implement a lockout if you fail to join a game that doesnt exist or fail to create one because the name is taken?

We don’t know if that’s a permanent change or not. They said they were taking a number of temporary measures to get the servers stable. That could be one of them. I would rather be dealing with a slightly annoying like 30 second lockout like that, over the servers being down for 6 hours a day.

I dont think they had to do it at all. Creating a game every 10 seconds is one thing but getting locked out for 30 seconds because you typed the game name wrong is an unacceptably lazy implementation.

I don’t think any of us are in any position to say what was or wasn’t necessary. We don’t know what their backend looks like. We don’t know all the challenges they are facing. We don’t know the cause for those problems. It’s possible game creation errors were causing significant problems, so they needed to limit it. I don’t know. I can’t imagine they did it for fun or because they hate us. Let’s not be silly.

No. I know it wasnt necessessary. The old system didnt have it and a simple request to the server to check if a game exists is not taxing at all. It always has been a problem with creating too many games too quickly.

But this is 20 years later. This is a major re-release of the game. Exponentially more people are playing it. And they are causing workloads for their servers that they aren’t used to handling. It’s entirely possible more people playing the game right now than ever before. It’s likely not just game creation errors, it was probably 1 part of the problem and they worked to mitigate multiple things. That being one of them. Has that really been a big problem for you? I personally make a mistake when creating/joining a game very infrequently. Maybe slow down a little?

Databases just aren’t taxed by simple queries and are built with the intention of handling many queries at a time. The problem only exists with game creations. Game Creation is a lot of work but querying a database is not.

You’re right. Blizzard, multi-billion dollar company who is incredibly difficult to get jobs for, I imagine especially for their infrastructure engineer type positions, don’t know better than you and this was actually a totally silly thing for them to do and makes no sense. You gottem’

No? I want to play the game I paid for less than a month ago for more than 20 minutes before I’m disconnected into the queue simulator… OR I want my money back. This mentality destroys my mind.

Why does this sound exaggerated? Not myself, nor any other person I know who plays or anyone I have made friends with since release experiences this kind of gameplay.

More than likely. You would be surprised how little a college graduate knows about their field and generally speaking this is just a bandaid to a bigger problem. Just take what you wrote and think… with all those resources and years of data how they couldn’t predict this.

Reality: They did predict it and they also predicted a fall off of players in the coming months after release. So problem fixes itself really but it was not necessary to blanket timer all actions to the server from the client which they probably just did because it was cheap and effective.

How do you know everyone working on this are fresh-out-of-college graduates? It’s not that they didn’t predict the playerbase. They didn’t predict that so many of them would be playing hyper efficiently in ways that are going to tax the poop out of their infrastructure.

I’m not saying there maybe wasn’t some degree of incompetence that has occurred. But for people to try to smite everyone down with righteous lightning bolts from their high horses pretending like they have never made mistakes or been wrong with anything in their lives before just makes me roll my eyes.

And again, for me personally, I’ve had a great time.
