Patch = easy mode?

We have a problem incoming with Season 3+ → Power Creep

The addition of even more rune words will ofc make the game somewhat easier. If they upgrade uniques / sets (which I hope they will do at some point), then the game balance is really at a bad spot.

Players already demand players8 or 16 (yes, some char builds could easily do that lol) online. There will be a point when the game will just be so easy, that the fun is gone.

I am NOT saying we need players8 online, I say we need to balance patch the game.
Even if that means nerfs, I do not care. Game must stay demanding, fun but also rewarding.

Has there actually been any news, besides the launch window for the 3rd ladder? New potential runewords don’t necessarily mean power creep. They could just be on par with the current godly tier, or fill some gaps between early and endgame.

Well see what the devs come up with.

Nothing announced yet. I’m highly skeptical that any new runewords are coming. The devs have once again been very quiet. Immortal and D4 truly take priority.

Wouldn’t really surprise me, then again, it would go against the statements of drip feeding new content each ladder.

Thats alot of assumptions considering we dont know what the new runewords are yet…

Also, news flash, any character at full tune, already power creeps. Nothing new there.

Im sure they thought TZ would add difficulty, but they got more work to do.

The vast majority of the difficult is already long gone in my opinion. Though that happened way before D2R. D2R just made it even easier by fixing mana burn, dual enchant, and more. When I play 1.09, even when playing a high level character with amazing gear, I frequently have the fear of death. When I play D2R, there is pretty much no fear of death anymore. You can just faceroll 99% of the game. Bring the difficulty back in my opinion.

It’d be interesting to see a 4th difficulty added… One that makes a godly geared character cringe playing solo, however more doable with a team of players working together.

Make some sort of notice/agreement when first entering this 4th difficulty beyond hell, informing players that it is designed to be much more difficult than Hell, warning that the difficulty is designed with team play in mind and that it will be extremely difficult even with the best geared classes especially when trying to solo the difficulty.

They’d just have to be very careful about power creep, ignoring all of the guaranteed whine noise about it being “too hard”.

I’d love for a Dark Souls level difficulty to come to the game… Challenge Accepted.

Stream yourself playing non expansion hardcore if you think game is too easy.

We’ll have to wait and see. However I am worried that we’re going to wind up with some over-powered, dead easy to make, Spirit-like runeword, but geared toward melee.

Even that’s easy.

Quite a few players have resorted to something called Ultra Hardcore now.
Hardcore setting
P3 or higher
No healing of ANY sort (No potions, No regen, no shrines, no wells, no life leach). The Only healing you get is when you ding. If you heal any other way EVER even one time, you lose.
No vendors EVER. No shopping or repairing.
No talking to NPC’s ever, unless they are 100% necessary to push you further into the game, ie; warriv to move you to act 2, the NPC’s that push the quests along in act 2, tyrael for act 4, etc etc.

Currently participating in this. I am at level 17 in the catacombs on my first try on an amazon, on players 8.

For big time d2 players sure. But the majorjty of the wahh wahhs from the drop rate cry babies to the enigma cry babies have only played LOD and only on SC. They couldn’t finish LOD HC let alone classic HC or imposing additional rules to make the game harder…

Im hoping for a new difficulty players 32…

Stacking would be great but then again not sure how blizz will make money on these farmers who buy many accounts.

Fixing lobby would be great

When friend comes on a message in game be good to have back

Bring back the overhead messages

Everyone now spawns in the middle of all towns would be great

Its why they need to nerf stuff if they are going to add more. More so casters than others.

The only thing you can buff is base weapon damage since it wasn’t done in first place all those years ago.

Players 8 online, self found ladder are silly you can do this offline, if there was no offline mode it would be good addition.

Well i believe they can give melee fighters some base damage reduction and flat damage to even the odds.

The barb WW can have more reach and AOE.
The druid Fury could have the 5 hits but it cleaves hittting multiple enemies.
The pokezon could have impale in a big thrust morion covering a few steps for lots of AOE
The bowazon just needs a slight damage boost

Just a few ideas to bring melee fighters compete more with casters.

I don’t know, I think these runewords are just kind of window dressing.

D3 thought this was a good idea, and they ended up with infinite scaling and an endless grind for +5 main stat. The point of RPGs, in general, is becoming stupidly powerful over time. If the game scales with you, you may as well not progress because your overall experience isn’t going to change. Modern WoW had this same problem for like 4 xpacs in a row. Let players become strong in RPGs, it’s that simple.

I wish more people understood this.

Since they got rid of dual enchant bug, barb in classic is easy mode for a playthrough as soon as you get whirlwind. Play barb in 1.09 classic or expansion. You can get wrecked so fast. Zon is the OP class there but even she gets wrecked if you’re not careful. I can’t say there’s really a case like that in D2R. I want the difficulty of 1.09 and prior back.

I’m pretty strict “no changes” guy but I wouldn’t mind an entirely brand new difficulty above Hell. Rushing to Hell and beating it isn’t really the big accomplishment it was in 2000 so it may be time to add a new hurdle. ANYTHING but “Paragon levels”

I think the BT mod illustrated that more difficulty can be added to the game without turning everything into a bullet sponge or something. And it also doesn’t mean the game has to slow down to a pace that inferno was in D3.

It would be fun to try, for sure.
