While some may be upset the changes didn’t go further, I have to say that I think that all changes in the patch are in the right direction.
• More slots
• NHD improvements for group play. Also benefits a couple of underplayed builds.
• Knockback removed from BK set
• Shifting between wolf and bear
• +damage working with traps
• bug fixes
All of these were asked for, and all are great.
I would like to see:
• Even more slots
• a little balancing on the MA assassin (maybe finishers only execute on the last kick?)
• A buff to the BK set (and some other sets/uniques)
• Teleport also available when shifted
• Barbarian improvements
These are great steps, though. We’re moving in the right direction.
this patch is downright pathetic. they didn’t switch TZ at all and it’s the worst mechanic in any video game i have ever seen. i for one would fire this dev team for lack of brain cells.
Agreed, I think it was a small but good patch. I’m guessing it’ll be an outlier because of D4’s launch and that we’ll still get bigger patches in the future.
Nowadays, in general, there is some incomprehensible trend of justifying blizzard for their poor work, no matter if it concerns d2 or d4 for example.
They either had to tell everyone: sorry, don’t expect any major changes in the game, or say that yes, this patch is small, but expect serious changes and improvements in the future.
And thats all, lack of communtication never means good work, just communicate with your users more it’s not so hard!
There will never be enough slots. The thing is without muling it wouldn’t be an issue. I’d prefer improving stash with currency tab and maybe more normal tabs.
I like D2R, and I like this patch. I would have liked more fixes and tweaks, but I agree with all the changes they made in this patch, and I felt that the commentary on here is negative to the point of silliness. I wanted to highlight that these changes are good, and they should keep going along these lines.
I won’t be touching D4 as I don’t like it, just as I didn’t like D3 at all. This is the game I like, and the one I’ll be playing for years to come. If you have a look, you’ll see that I made several posts against mosaic and and metamorphosis being changes via items that should have been changes on the skills themselves. I just think that it’s more constructive to highlight the changes we agree with, and then suggest changes to what needs more work or revision. Tantrums will just be ignored and don’t help anyone.
I also want the currency tab, badly. I do still need more slots, though. Even without mules, there are more than 20 builds that I want to play. I was asking for an extra 20-30 slots to future-proof, but I’ll take 4 as a small win, and hope we get more in the future.
Why?
I don’t think using a low damage Twister between two Tornados would be groundbreaking damagewise. Tornados scale very bad with +skills anyway and the fcr is crap. No crits, no facets (would like to see a phys facet in the game)
It seems that the patch actually does buff tornado a bit. The NHD changes aren’t just between different skills, but also different casts of the same skill. Now you could potentially hit a monster with new tornadoes as fast as your cast rate allows instead of only once per second. Though, for the most part this will only work with telestomps and large bosses due to the pathing.
I would expect that the build with the most physical damage gain from these changes would be the Bowazon in group play.
3 nadoes can do damage in a second now. That doesn’t even account for the “aura pulses” that individual tornadoes make every 15 frames independent of NHD.
So here we are, only minor updates anymore, and half of the dev time for updates was wasted for TZ and sunders instead of loot filters and currency stash tab, which we will most likely never see now.
i agree, good direction, but i little bit too few. would have liked to see a bit more changes. but im actually glad they didnt add more runewords. getting a bit much lately.
• Teleport also available when shifted
im a bit afraid that might mess up pvp even more. not a huge pvper, but wouldnt that mean 2 points (1 lycanthropy, 1 in werewolf or werebear) could already result in a big +% to life? i think a balance change with faster walk speed to werewolf skill would be a middle ground.
though i dont see any downsides for bo being allowed.
• a little balancing on the MA assassin (maybe finishers only execute on the last kick?)
yes, i really hope they will balance her out a bit more (meaning nerf reasonably) after this buff
I like to be bullish on blizzard and think with this lackluster patch, the next season 5 patch will include a massive QoL like currency tab, stacking, or loot filter. It might be in development now and just wasn’t ready given focus on D4.
Nothing game breaking but something that will be so nice to have that it will bring back the gambling addicts to run Meph another 1000 times (and now TZ Meph!)
The list is pretty long. For a single player, the main benefits are to Druids and Assassins, with skills like wake of fire, martials arts skills, tornado, twister, fissure, volcano… A fire trap Assassin may actually be a thing now.
For team play, it means that each skill can do it’s own damage without be penalised by another player’s attack with NHD. It affects all the above skills plus many more, including strafe, multi shot, war cry, nova, chain lightning, poison nova, shock web… For example, before this, if you had multiple bowazons firing continuous waves of multi shot, only one would actually do damage. Now they all will. If you throw in a tornado or a nova, that will deal damage too, instead of doing nothing.
It also means that some enemies will be more dangerous. Now Baal and his clone can each hit you, instead of only one hit landing.
