Patch 2.4 - changes to Rune drops?

I dont think patch 2.4 is making any changes to rune drops but I sure wish it would. I have been running Act 2 Hell with a lvl 80 Necro on Players - 7 and the occasional rune that drops is an Ort, Ral or Eth which quite frankly I can get running normal difficulty. I feel like getting a Ber, Jah or Vex will mean sacrificing my 1st born. Just hate to farm and would prefer doing normal runs.

Blizzard Gods receive my prayer…

The high runes are rare for a reason…

If you want the thrill of playing around with high runewords, load up Hero Editor and cook you up a character with all the high runes you want.

This table should understand you the ratio.

Rune 1/x Rune 1/x
El 43 Eld 65
Tir 17 Nef 26
Eth 12 Ith 19
Tal 9 Ral 13
Ort 9 Thul 13
Amn 11 Sol 17
Shael 19 Dol 28
Hel 34 Io 51
Lum 64 Ko 96
Fal 124 Lem 186
Pul 245 Um 367
Mal 360 Ist 540
Gul 511 Vex 766
Ohm 727 Lo 1091
Sur 983 Ber 1475
Jah 1321 Cham 1981
Zod 5171

You could read it like this: for about every 164 (1475/9) Orts, 1 Ber drops.

Or, for every 1000 runes found, you get on average 1 Sur 1 Lo 1 Ohm 1 Vex 2 Gul 2 Ist 3 Mal 3 Um 4 Pul

Is it really that bad when put into such perspective?

P.S. these odds are for the drop sources that are able to drop a zod. If they cannot drop zod, odds for lower runes improves accordingly. Cannot drop jah\cham (all runes except Zod appear in treasure classes in pairs) - again, odds for lower runes improve a little bit, etc.

Hellforge quest change:

Drops 500 runes
450 of which are El through Sol.
45 of which are Shael though Mal.
5 of which are Ist through Zod.

But, you only have two seconds to pick up the runes you want, then they all disappear. You’re also temporarily limited to one click per second. Warden is on full alert during those two seconds.

Why do that. Everyone know runes are upgradable don’t they? It can be a pain for the higher runes and that is a lot of grinding but you don’t have to rely on drops if you don’t want to.
Then there is always cheats (trainers etc.) and places where you can spend real money to get what you want but doesn’t that defeat the purpose of “gaming”?

A loot filter will make this OP.

It was a joke, of course. :stuck_out_tongue:

Note the Warden part.

I know
What’s not a joke is needing 20 characters to complete my post.

?

Dammit, how did you do that?

Hi Jedi. I like your suggestion with Hero Editor. The problem is I dont have Diablo 2 Legacy anymore and based on what I have seen thats needed to make Editor work since it wont work with Ressurected characters

You can create a character with it then move the d2s file into your d2r save folder.

Nonono, David Blane!

:grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

why should they? i found between 20 and 30 HRs since launch…
Its all about how and where you do it…

Running Act 2 is probably not the best way to do it, and on top of it I personally feel like running just Act 2 over and over is going to feel like it takes longer than doing runs. Do Cows, Chaos Sanctuary, Wordlstone Keep, or Lower Kurast runs.
