I am wondering about using pally shields with ED instead of all res.
Does anybody know of any situations where you would prefer a shield base with ED compared to all res? Is it good on a dream pally?
I found a beauty kurast shield and was wondering what kind of holy grail I am looking for in terms of ED/AR.

Unsure tbh , but at educated guess its really only zealots that would prefer the ED as it will only work for them. Hammer , Foh and smite wont get the ED bonus.
Pallies suck anyway , delete them imo 
What about a vortex shield with 36% ED and 80 AR and 4os? I have one in my stash. Pretty ticked when it dropped that way, but kept it as a novelty.
lvl 12 - lvl 18 lld chargers use those 65 ed 120 AR shields

If you don’t need the resist, then why not. The issue though is how damage is calculated in this game.
Enhanced damage on your main-hand weapon is calculated first which means that a 65% ED is applied directly to weapon damage and then that is modified by skill. However off-hand ED like on shield or armor applies at the end with skill ED. The end result is that 65% ED on weapon will provide a large boost to damage, but a 65% on shield is only marginal (5-10%).
Of course you also have to take +attack rating into account if we assume you’re not maxed out. That gives a little more boost in favor of ED on shield, but not much.

If your res is already covered. If using a CoH and/or Kiras comes to mind. With torch and anni will cover most of the res by itself, even in hell mode.
Teen duels, like lvl 18 use these shields. Sorc/magic damage is basically non existent in that pvp format.
pally shield with ed and ar are for low lvl zeallot … they are perfect because normal and nightmare can get resistance pretty easy, they dont need em
RES for sure and heres why.Even if you have max resistances still get one with resistances because just say you are hit with conviction and it negatives your resistances that extra resistance boost from the shield now adds to that total resistance.So for example you have one with 45 res to all and make a dream and it has a +60 all resisances and you are hit with a conviction that takes you back down to zero.With the shield youll be at 60% resist all when conviction hits
