Once you get fully geared, PLAYERS 1 - 3 is way too easy. Player 8 lobbies are just 4min baal runs, so theres really no way to play the game on a harder difficulty.
The game has been out for nearly 20 years now, everyone has enigma + infinity + griffons by now. The hurr durr loot will be easy to get is null. Uniques are worth the least anywho, blue gloves monarchs rare boots and superior bases are worth more than 99% of uniques.
There really needs to be a way to up the difficulty. P8 is already in offline it should be available online too. NON-LADDER ONLY, DON’T CARE ABOUT LADDER

Local single player has what you’re looking for.
/players X doesn’t belong in online play.
If difficulty is what you’re looking for, you can artificially increase the difficulty by stripping down some of that OP gear for junk gear. Just saying.

the only reason people want player 8 is for more loot.
there are plenty of builds that can clear hell, but only a small fraction can do so on /players 8.
it would be absurdly build limiting forcing players to play those couple builds in order to farm effectively.
an incredibly absurd and selfish idea.

Aww, poor you. You have all of the gear that made the game easy, and now you want the game to be challenging again, but you don’t want to give up the shiny loot to make it happen.
With godly gear, you have the power to make it challenging. Without godly gear, you don’t have the choice.
The game has been out for 20 years. Everyone I know has literally mules full of bee and jah runes. I am one of the poor players in my group and even I have a hundred and twenty ber runes.
It’s absolutely no reason that I should have to throw on trash gear to make the game difficult to play. Because you guys can’t find out how to make a little bit of Money after 20 years of a game being out.

they probably bought the gear XD. no one starts out in hell with only their NM gear and is like “gee this is too easy”.
the only builds that can efficiently clear players 8 REQUIRE infinity or are paladin.
a piece of equipment you aren’t going to get getting for at LEAST 3 weeks into ladder if u get absolutely insane drops, and likely the first month or two…

This game is incredibly easily to generate wealth in. Ontop of that, its no secret how to do it, there are dozens of guides written on it. Tens of thousands have done it before you. And yet, you are still such a broke hater that you want to purposely limit the enjoyment of others just to make your own broke a$$ feel better.
You having the option to strip some of that godly gear to provide more of a challenge that you seek, which you refuse to do… Speaks volumes.

I should be able to use the fruits of my labor in a challenging way, not toss them off into the muck because the game lacks a proper end-game challenge, which is easily rectified with 1 command

Ok, its pretty clear you don’t play the game as anything other than a weekend retreat, so let me explain it to you.
Diablo 2 is a hack and slash looter RPG. The whole point of the game is to get better and better gear, making your character strong and stronger. Not to find crap gear and make your character weaker and weaker.
You grind to get better gear, not worse gear. In your case, you don’t get better gear, since you don’t know what you’re doing, so I think you are falsely assuming everyone else is as hair-brained as you are.

anyone who has been playing for 2 decades should be at least 30… and should have at least some maturity… which you clearly lack.
you would also know that this isn’t happening. that the vast majority of long time d2 players DON’T want this.

i have played every build u can think of in LOD and some you haven’t.
