I guess this is mostly a public service announcement of some kind since I know Blizzard can or will not help me. I was just transferring items between characters and I had 17 Keys of Hate, 22 Keys of Destruction and 5 Keys of Terror laying on the ground in Act 1. I left Act 1 to go to Act 4 to use Cain to identify all items (I hadn’t unlocked Cain yet on the character I used to create the game) When I came back to Act 1 all the keys had disappeared. No one entered my game, I didn’t leave the game and this has never happened to me before. All of my other items like rare rings, set items, HR’s stayed on the ground it was just the Keys that poofed.
Ouch.
Pandemonium keys will disappear after being on the ground for 10 minutes.
Wow I NEVER knew this about Keys… wow… I’ve played this game for so long.
10 minutes: Key, Potion, Scroll, Tome, and Ammo (Arrows, Bolts).
10 minutes: Any Armor and Weapon of quality < magic, regardless if flagged as ‘‘Ethereal’’, ‘‘Socketed’’ or not, and Rune Words.
10 minutes: Pandemonium artifacts (Key of Terror/Hate/Destruction, Mephisto’s Brain, Diablo’s Horn, Baal’s Eye).
10 minutes: Essence and Token of Absolution
20 minutes: Magic Items, Gems and Runes.
30 minutes: Rare, Set, Unique and Crafted Items.
Hopefully this list helps others so they don’t fail like I did.

If only there were stash tabs so you didn’t have to dump things on the ground any more…

edit: sorry looks like you solved it, it’s separate from normal key but still 10m
yup… items should never be on the ground unless they just dropped from a monster i killed or i’m doing a free giveaway and people are already in the game

If 20 character slots isn’t enough for you, it’s time you admit that you have a hoarding problem, and seek professional help.

What are you talking about? I was transferring items between accounts, what does that have to do with 20 character slots not being enough? Do you think that when you create, level and gear a character on one account that it is simultaneously created, leveled and then geared on a different account?

I guess I just prefer it.
He bots on one accounts and was transferring the botted keys to his main account that he plays (most probably)

Yeah it’s a pretty hefty loss.
Unfortunately people are redirecting to attack him personally when this should be more of a PSA to people that don’t know items disappear after an allotted timeframe
Society is obsessed with being negative so I’m not surprised unfortunately
