I wish they’d just do this. Let the guys that made PD2, plugy, and the others give it a go. All I really want is some QoL improvements and blizz just won’t do any of it. D4 is their baby now, we all see it. We can accept it, just show us this tiny shred of love and open up the game to the modding community.
More modding support, yes. But the core of D2:R must stay as close to a remaster of the original game as it can.
Mods on closed Battle.net? Absolutely NOT.
Since TCP/IP was gutted from D2:R, they should consider emulating some form of “open battle.net” connection service that allows multiplayer with mods.
Will these things happen? Don’t get your hopes up.
All I want is QOL that we’ve been asking for since the beginning. Since they probably deem a currency tab too much effort, I wish they’d at least provide cube recipes to emulate stacking of some kind (e.g. rune graphic with 5 on it or something…)
A currency tab would be amazing. Loot filter and Ilvl would also be great!
I agree with this 100% and in my OP I did not mean that any modding should be allowed on closed Bnet.
Not sure what do you mean, game is open to modders, they do mods for a long time.
I’m don’t know a thing about modding or programming so I can’t speak intelligently on the matter. But I remember seeing that the guy that runs Plugy for D2LoD said that they only allow some modding. Whatever he would need to do to make Plugy for D2R is not allowed by blizzard.
Edit: This is copy and pasted from the plugy website.
Bad news : I won’t do PlugY (infinity stash) for Diablo II Resurected because Blizard doesn’t allow modding (binary editing).
It’d be cool but they’re never going to allow hardcode modding or add any methods for multiplayer modding in D2R, once this stuff (TCP/IP) gets taken away it’s not given back.
Just gotta wait for community “workarounds” in the form of private servers, speaking of which there was one that went public about 2 weeks ago. It’s pretty limited in that only Act 1 is available and it’s somewhat buggy but it’s a start.
Yes some things cant be done, mostly to protect integrity of game i guess to prevent people creating hacks or private servers or something like that.
About plugy. D2R doesnt need plugy anymore so like I dont even know what he had in mind to do anyway. There are mod with bigger stast and 8 stas tabs offline, thats more than enough.
In case of modding a lot can be done, some things are easier than in d2 some harder and yes some stuff is impossible to do, true. But again, a lot can be done and i have seen some amazing modifications.
