I now am lvl 90 with all my good gear (2x grief, Fortitude, etc.), just missing annihilus and stacking of AR+max dmg charms. I know builds and videos recommend to only put enough points in str and dex to equip my gear.
Since I’m not stacked on AR charms, wouldn’t my AR be too low if I were to do this? How about str, won’t my damage go down the drain?
My base value for str is 154 (195 with gear)
Dex base value is at 115 (164 with gear)
To use my gear, I would need 118 str, 136 dex total
I’m around 76% chance to hit Baal on Hell (don’t know about Uber, haven’t tried them since double Griefs)
That would mean -77 str and -28 dex (+105 vitality)
Would I see much difference in AR and damage if I were to switch the stats? I’m mostly wondering if those guides are only meant for if your inventory is stacked with AR/max damage charms or not.
These smell like mrllama and dbrunskis builds (and many more) which all use max dmg and ar charms as you’ve guessed already
I’ve come across this issue and even with max dmg and ar charms stacked I still dont leave dex to min req, 1 because of pvp (I need max block) and 2 is that I hate when the barb misses
But the more better charms with ar and max dmg the less you will feel this issue, clearly.
there is the option of using angelics ammy + rings and just use max vita build (and str + dex as required), you will have no issues with ar like this but you lose ‘‘cannot be frozen’’ from ravenfrost (the big drawback)
Btw if you want to do ubers with dual griefs it’s possible, prebuff with treachery, swap helm for gface, drac’s for gloves and tgods for belt, gore riders for boots and you should be fine
A nice way to boost ar and damage is using demon limb on switch (enchant) - lasts 6 minutes

Thanks, I’ll probably keep my points in the Dex. What about the Str? I read that each point increases the weapon dmg 1% but I don’t know how it’s calculated. Phase Blades with Grief have super low weapon dmg (it’s the runeword bonuses that makes them hit hard), does this mean that the damage would hardly change at all if I were to remove over 80 points from it?
I think the sad truth is that the dex does not help with the attack rating as much as you would hope, and str does not boost dmg that much. That is why the pros don’t waste points on them. Dex does help with block.
Dex should give way more attack rating. Most of the end-game builds rely on ignore targets defence or skills that always hit.
Dex should also boost physical bow damage way more. If you compare 200 dex physical bowzon with 400 dex version, you would expect the difference to matter. I would also like to see str give more boost to dmg.
