Firstly, I’m aware of the current push from certain groups who are seeking a lobby renovation and the reasons why they want the things they ask for. I’m not trying to minimize any of those issues and ideas. A lobby refurbish would be somthin’ easy and relatively cheap to do.
For instance this:
I’m just like:
An online meeting hub; where you could login and actually walk up to people and interact with them directly would be far superior to any kind of chat window. They want to make it easy to access right?
who knows, maybe folks would even learn some social skills… or at least enjoy the interacting with people - without the need for a mask? couldn’t ask for better timing in that regard.
And the consoles…
How would consoles use a chat window? Are you busting out a USB keyboard now? For players who only play on PC, let me say that consoles do not ‘usually’ allow chat. due to all the red-tape and hoops you need to jump through… they favor voice chat because they can slap an *****onlineinteractionsarenotrated sticker on it to pass the regulation minimums.
I’m just sayin’ maybe the game should have a built-in, in-game, lobby hub. that you could walk around, checkout what people have or just meet players for groups. It would have to be moderated and controlled in a way. For this, I would suggest working with the actual players. allow them to play a role as moderators. give them jobs and responsibilities. the good ones will come back for a lifetime…
True players can always do this for themselves now. Nothing stopping you from creating a player-hub game. Minus the 8 player max.

But they’re still working on controller input so…
“I can’t decide why I should read what you wrote after watching LlamaSC’s video. You say exactly the same thing as him. Why this post? I think LlamaSC is connected to blizzard, at least Diablo4 who may have tried it prematurely may be the little person … Are you advertising this or why?”
im sorry but something must be lost in translation
The current system would work fine as is, with a little TLC. The chat functions need to be better explained and actually work (like the block function actually working and being able to create/moderate your own channels).
I wouldn’t be against adding a communities/clan tab like D3 has.
As for consoles not having text chat? Many games do. You get a wireless keyboard or one of those mini’s that plug into your controller.
But lets try to keep the new experimental stuff to a minimum, they can’t even make the stuff they already have work as intended.
I hear you bud.
The reason I’m suggesting a player hub, would be how it could combat bots by encouraging player interactions in-game. And how it would work on console. After all, a lobby hub was originally on the design table when the game was first being designed but was scrapped for budget reasons.
It’s been documented on interviews with the creators that Blizzard North proposed the current style of lobby. As it would be cheaper. They marketed it as ‘bring your own friends’ style where you meet beforehand and agree to login together at the same time like early deathmatch.
But you’d be surprised how having a character standing in front of you makes a big difference with player interactions.
I mean what if you could open a trade window with people by right clicking the name in the lobby? would people ever log-in and play the game?
