Not complaining. FW was not working as intended. But i had fun with it. Was nice to add a little more variety to farming areas.
However playing solo online, i tweaked and experimented a couple of times and now have no resets.
So seeing as it was changed could we get a free reset please so i can go back to vanilla cold.

Why do you NEED a free respec? You get 3 via the quest to clear the caves, and you can get more respec tokens by collecting essences from the 4 major bosses. The power to respec is in YOUR HANDS. Farm on brave soldier!
If you read my post i did say i experimented a little before settling on a FW/Orb build.
I don’t play that much and now the rules have changed i don’t see why i have to grind essences in order to respec as my build is now very sub optimal.

You pretty much are. You foolishly (or for fun) spent all your free respecs to play around. Now you want something for nothing. That’s not how this game works. You have to ability to get yourself unlimited repsecs… just costs a little time/farming to do it (I think in my hayday I had over 80 respec tokens in my old LoD accounts just sitting on a mule).
If i was complaining i would just be asking for a respec as in your words i foolishly spent the ones i had.
However i didn’t bork FW/Orb build. The developers did. I get very limited time to play and grinding out essences for how ever long it takes when i had settled on the last build i was happy and was going to stick with, seems a little unfair.

They fixed a bug that you were taking advantage of by not optimally speccing a FW/Orb build assuming the bug would be fixed. So honestly, that’s on you. Now you want a free respec since you built your build around a bug. That’s on you, not the developers. It was well known that IAS and the FW ticks were bugged. If you built your build without all the required hard points to make FW/Orb viable WITHOUT using this bug, well sorry buddy.
You don’t have the time to farm for essences seems silly – you farm to find gear, that includes farming bosses. If you choose not to farm bosses, well that’s on you. Seems like the issue here is you buddy, not the developers.
There’s no need to reward poor planning on your builds (again you already had 3 get out of jail free cards you didn’t spend wisely). So your FW/Orb is less then optimal now? Can you still kill stuff? If not roll a new char and plan it properly this time without relying on a bug.
All that bullsh*t to defend Blizzard ninja-nerfing build (which was not OP btw) in a game where you cannot respec for free (as D3 for example).
They should not do that.
In Hearthstone if they nerf something, you get full reimbursement. If they nerf anything in D2 even by 0.001% they should give respec. Done.
So now there is only 2 to 3 builds for Sorc (meteorb, blizzard, and lightning for very rich people). Well done… I need to try Fury Druid also, it seems it has been severely nerfed… They are ruining the fun.
I prefered d2 when it had no reset at all. However i still can understand that ppl want a free reset considered they “nerfed” some builds or fixed the bug. Giving ppl a free reset cause of that wont rly break anything as reset alrdy exist in game. Simply no reason to be against it.
Agreed. Some people just think it’s cool to hate on others.
Whenever Blizzard makes changes to skills they should allow a free reset. Tokens are not that easy for some people to farm (new to the game, don’t have high level characters, whatever). Some players are just going to get discouraged and leave the game.
If I were a game developer, I’d be more interested in keeping players playing than encouraging them to quit.

Where does the free respec ask end? How about we just let people respec anytime they want to thus making choices you make meaningless? Oh yeah, that’s D3.
Love it or hate it, D2 was built at a time where your choices matter and you have to plan out your builds ahead of time. Original launch had ZERO respecs. They finally caved and put in the quest reward to grant people 3 free respecs for doing the cave quest. That seems like enough respecs to fix a mistake or level a build one way and respec for your final farming build.
Why people want something for nothing these days is beyond me. Do you think food magically arrives at your table without you doing anything to get it (at the very least you need money to go out to eat, and you ahve to earn that money)?
The original poster built a build around a bug that was INTRODUCED with the re-master, and was well known and posted about (and plenty of youtube videos too). That has been corrected. It is not the developers fault he spent his respecs on whatever instead of maybe having the foresight to realize that, “hey maybe I should hold onto one in case they fix this bug I’m taking advantage of”.
Now if Bliz were to re-balance skills / synergies, then yes I would understand asking for a respec to allow users to adjust to the new changes (this has been a precedent for many years in more modern ARPGs). In this case, they were taking advantage of a clear bug which means he probably didn’t put enough points somewhere to make FW viable at end-game. I have zero sympathy for that and I don’t feel someone should be rewarded for it either.
Takes alot more before the game would turn into d3. Purist just bringing up d3 and use it as a excuse for everything. That surely sounds like hate. Ppl made a choice, they picked a viable build and spend time to gear up and lvl up. Blizzard then changed it making it less viable and alot weaker. If u buy a tv channel package which have sports channels and then the provider removed the sport channels after u paid u would feel scammed and would want to change for free even though u got a 12month bindning period. Cant rly blame the costumers saying they didnt think about their choice. Again giving ppl a Free reset is reasonable consider the circumstances. Its not gamebreaking since resets alrdy exist in the game. I just see it as a nice gesture from blizzard.
Alot of bugs were kept in the game because ppl liked it. Which bugs they keep and which they dont is hard to tell. After all its d2 resurrected and fw sorc for example was popular even though it wasnt intended. Wouldnt be surprised if they did buff FW seeing how many ppl liked it.
They probably have zero systems in place to actually do this even if they wanted to. It’s an oversight for sure, but characters are considered so disposable in this game, it sucks, but it is what it is.
I would agree with you but technically, they didn’t make any skill changes. They fixed a bug that had had unintended consequences. They’ve never to my recollection given free resets in WoW or dust refunds in HS to players who built around bugs that weren’t intended.
That doesn’t work for new players, they’ve got no idea what to build and can only play around with skills. If they make something useless, oh well, character is pretty much gone may aswell start a new one.
So many people here are anti respecs but if you don’t want to use them… you don’t have to. You just seem to also take enjoyment from preventing others from using them, even if they don’t have the experience to “plan out their builds ahead of time”
