Seriously though, for those of us that are getting back into D2 with this release that didn’t play like mad beforehand, this jargon is ridiculous.
Like, did you scrub the hell outta it in the nearest river and so it’s shiny and crap? So confused with all the jargon…can we either get some kind of guide on the terminology, or at least make these things more accessible for the “newcomers”? Any by “accessible”, I mean, just state exactly what it is you mean so a peasant noob can understand what you are saying. And yes, I am that peasant noob, and not afraid to say so.

Clean usually means one of two things in a Diablo context.

An item that is found legitimately (i.e. not botted or bought from a real money website)
-
An item that is unsocketed or has an open socket
More often than not when the term is used, it is used for the 2nd definition.
It’s hard to get insight into these things as a solo player. I would highly recommend joining a community like op xbananax (if HC) or the Lords of Terror; lots of friendly people there willing to help answer questions like these.
