Decided to install the old OG D2 client from the Bnet website because the graphics in Resurrected when hitting mode swap aren’t correct and I wanted that OG nostalgia hit. But not only did I get hit with a few security warnings from Microsoft after downloading OG D2 from Blizzard’s OFFICIAL download links through the account management page, but after I installed the game I kept getting a warning pop-up saying the game doesn’t work on modern hardware. I thought Blizzard promised us that the OG client was still going to remain intact after D2R’s release?
the game version that blizz hosts is 1.12a the modern pc compatibility patch was 1.13 or 1.14
current patch is 1.14D… please open the game floder and launch blizz updater or download the patch separately and update the game…
Come complaining in here only if the game throws issues after you’ve updated it to the currently latest version, otherwise blame yourself…
That’s cute. You think you know things. The client you download from blizzard is 1.14b by default. Please fact-check yourself before you say anything. It’s embarrassing for you and sad for the rest of us.
My OG LoD just runs fine without issues.
Even a no LOD install works for me. Though I would update to 1.14d and then retry. Also, full screen doesn’t work for some people. Try windowed. If that doesn’t work, I think the security warning you get when you’re installing in the culprit.
You can find OG LoD very easily, just not through Blizzard. It’s the same with WCIII, Blizzard won’t host it anymore, but it can still be found. Is this Blizzard’s right? Yes. Is it smart of Blizzard to do this? No, it’s extremely dumb.
As others have mentioned, you play OG D2 windowed, like any very old game without mods for a modern display.
