Offline character gone from menu…logged out 20 mins ago…logged back in…nothing…tried to fix by restarting battlenet client…switching from U.S. to Euro server and making a fresh char…nothing is working…level 81 paladin named Tyr
Gone from the saves folder as well?
keeps saying “failed to join game” on any existing character in offline…mule or freshly created level 1s…and my 81 paladin is nowhere to be found in character list
“failed to join game”…in offline??? I’ve never seen that before.
Start the D2R app directly instead of via the Battle.net app. Failed to join game in an offline character indicates either corrupt saves or you aren’t actually offline and are trying to access the online list instead. Could we get a screenshot of your offline character list?
You can post a screenshot to any major image hosting site like imgur or photobucket (imgur is usually better/easier) and post the link like so:
https://imgur.com/YourPictureNumberHere
By encasing the URL within two ` (grave) marks, it becomes postable and we can highlight it and check the image for ourselves to help diagnose the issue.
I’m in the discord posting screenshots…its offline…not online…my offline character list consists of a few mules for gems/gear/runes…and a 33 sorc…all of which I cant log in to…my 81 paladin is not in the list which is the original issue…i have tried creating a new char as that was a googled troubleshoot…as well as changed battlenet between U.S./Euro/Asia servers…also restarted computer…restarted client etc.
The screenshot may still help. Changing servers won’t make any difference with regard to offline mode, however. Also, when you launch the Battle.net app what build version does D2R show?
Edit: Navigate to C:\Users\YourWindowsUserName\Saved Games\Diablo II Resurrected and check to see if a character named Tyr exists. You should have three files:
Tyr.key
Tyr.d2s
Tyr.ctl
Additional files you may or may not have are:
Tyr.map
Tyr.ma0
Tyr.ma1
If you do not see any of these files or some of the files from the first group are missing, you accidentally deleted your character.
All of those exist…a couple people from the discord tried them…comes up as blank…yet all my other characters in offline are still there…when I try to log in to them the screen just goes black and says the “failed to join game”…33 sorc…and a few mules
What are the file sizes as shown in File Explorer when you right click on them and select Properties?
Tyr.ctl 900 bytes
Tyr.d2s 2.78KB
Tyr.key 1.19KB
Those sound about right. Oh, you forgot to answer what build version of D2R you have.
says version Region Americas 1.5.73090
OK, continuing down the troubleshooting list…
Does your desktop/taskbar shortcut for D2R have anything as command line arguments after the D2R.exe portion of the name (found by right clicking the shortcut and selecting Properties)?
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo II Resurrected\Diablo II Resurrected Launcher.exe”
Change the Diablo II Resurrected Launcher.exe to D2R.exe, save the changes to the shortcut and try to launch the game that way. The D2R Launcher executable starts the Battle.net app. What I’m having you do is start the game manually via the game client itself, which will then force the game to default to offline mode.
no luck…online mode is working fine…offline is completely locked up…i cant log in to any character
Did changing to D2R.exe at least allow you to start the game client itself without starting the Battle.net app first?
yes…but nothing changed
OK, in your D2R saved games folder there is a file called SharedStashSoftCoreV2.d2i. Make a backup of that file on the desktop and then delete the same file from the Saved Games folder and restart D2R. We’re testing to see if you hit the dreaded corrupt shared stash bug.
so that allowed me to log into a character…all stash tabs are blank…Tyr still not in character list
