Off-line game is broken

I have finished Nightmare with 7 chars and not a single one can do sh’t in Hell so unbalanced is the game.Zealer, Javazon, Multishot Amazon, etc. Can’t get proper gear anywhere. From Nightmare to Hell is just too steep for off-line players. Fix the drop rate, please.

I know fewer people play offline (I do, pretty much exclusively), but if it were actually “broken,” you’d still see lots of threads complaining about it.

And there aren’t a lot of threads complaining about it.

You played diablo wrong, you didn’t make a sorce first to get the gear for your other characters. You had 20 years to learn the game and failed, that is all.

the whole game is basicly just farm.
grats THATS the game.

just find the area in hell act 1 without light immunity and fight against them
there is something called lower resist charge items. purchase one and equip it in the second weapon
farming and farming and farming with 300 mf until you get enough items or runes
even though you farm in nm baal, diablo or mesphisto, it’s still possible to get some useful items
last but not least, get rings and amulets and circlets and armor with skills, high resistance and life. This will definitely help you to survive in hell

hit and run…ok?

lol I like to think it was just the right amount with a hint of booya

This is false and youre ignorance. There are plenty of places, even in NM, to get gear with ANY character.
Yes a sorc is faster with teleport to farm up gear for your other characters, but any character can rock the Chaos Sanctuary in NM, Cows in NM, even Meph or Andy. These will all give experience and plenty of gear to help push into A1 hell so you can run the Tower for higher runes than NM and the Pits for higher end gear.

Just farm nightmare meph until you have decent gear for hell. You can even get titan’s revenge for your javazon there. People solo self find and move into hell with ease every day. The issue isn’t the game, it’s just your understanding.

You should learn to skip parts of the game, you will face harder mobs and inmunities, just keep running mate, Hell its about skill awful zones for your characters and farm the easiers for your type/element

I think it might be helpful to point out that it’s likely that you got through NM underlevelled and undergeared, because if you just play through at the rate it takes to finish all the quests you haven’t spent enough time in each area farming XP and drops. The first thing to do is make sure you’re at the appropriate level for the zone you’re in, and if you’re not go level up a bit in the correct act in NM. If you do that by farming areas that have good drops, like Chaos Sanctuary, cows, or even Travincal, you can get gear at the same time.

If you want to focus on gear, do boss runs on Andariel, Mephisto, Diablo, and Baal. They all have different drop tables and you’re likely to get different items from each of them. If you have specific items in mind that would be helpful, you can look up the drop rates. Andariel, for example, has the best chance to drop Harlequin Crest in hell, which is an endgame item. If you can make it through act 1 hell and kill Andariel, spend some time killing her to see what drops. If not, do boss runs in NM. Also consider farming countess in act 1 hell to get runes to make mid-level runewords. These can really boost your power level quickly. If you can’t farm hell countess, farm nightmare countess instead.

In hell, resists are incredibly important. Stack as much as you can, especially for fire and lightning. Your first priority is survival, and damage comes second. If you can take the heat and slowly chip down your enemies you’re better off than being a glass cannon.

At any rate, if you have 7 characters, chances are almost any decent drop will boost one of them. So just keep farming those drops until one of them gets their head above water. It takes some preparation to survive hell. And as others have pointed out, there are lots of streamers who can show you how they get through it in speed runs, meaning that there are good strategies for getting geared up and surviving with mediocre gear until you find the good stuff, which you can learn from them.

  1. That has very little to do with being off-line, rather playing withou trading, which is totally viable.

  2. While it is viable and not “broken”, I do admit that it is a bit silly how difficult they make it to progress with physical, especially melee, builds. They can miss a lot, with severe level difference penalties, only hit one enemy often times, have to have gear, and on top of it, the weapon is really not that strong usually, unless you have end-game stuff.

I still believe that weapon base damages should be increased. This makes the progression a little less insane for melee builds. When I am hammering on one enemy with a pretty decent sword, and it takes me 3-5 seconds to kill that one enemy, meanwhile a caster kills them and the rest of the screen in 1 second…that is a bit insane. I am not saying everyone should clear screens in one second, only that if I am focused on single enemy targets, I should feel pretty strong, or at least have some minor AOE, such as splash damage or skills like cleave.

Drop rates are fine. Hell is supposed to test you; it’s literally the final difficulty.

A general rule of thumb for self-find melee builds is that skills that provide flat damage are easier to progress with on under-geared characters than the ones that are percentage based. For example, a Zeal + Holy Shock build will usually work better with an under-geared character than a Zeal + Fanaticism build. I’d start with Holy Shock and then once I find a really great elite 1-hander I’d respec into Fanaticism.

Another thing is that Hell difficulty does a good job of exposing weaknesses in your build. You can sorta just muddle your way through Normal and Nightmare fine, but Hell difficulty requires more. It’s highly likely that there are some problems with the design of your build that doesn’t require some GG items to fix. Understanding and correcting that can really boost your effectiveness in Hell.

Dude people do speedruns make it in 5 hours.

Considering I watched a guy beat Hell with a punch Barb… I think it’s just you lol.

Hell is supposed to be a challenge. I suggest watching one of the popular YouTubers build guides for tips, hints, and tricks. Personally I farm NM Meph until I have decent enough gear to get through Act I in Hell. You may have spent your skill points unwisely as well, if so that is what respecs are for. Good Luck
