I found an eth Thresher and the socket quest will give it 5os to make Obedience. But I wonder if I will ever use it. For melee builds Reapers will be the best choice due to decrep. For elemental builds with mana requirements Insight is better. I can only think of a Strafer Zon with WWS that can use an Act II merc with Obeidence. Any opinions?
Nothing wrong with Obedience, to me it is a nice alternative a2 weap. I’m running it on one of my characters until I get a reaper’s to replace it.
Does great on my 90 barb’s merc. I don’t need mana regen from infinity so it was a solid option without having to break the bank. Would recommend for any builds that aren’t mana starved.
I would suggest the cube recipe, roll the dice for 4 sockets to increase its value by 20x. If your single player, you may as well just Larzuk it.
I wasted two of them when both rolled 1os. I would want an eth insight for the extra damage.
Reapers would be better for the reasons you said as well as decrep.
If I were you I’d use the Horadric cube recipe to gamble for a much more valuable 4 socket eth thresher for Insight or Infinity
Thanks all. I’ll take my chances again for 4os.
i use both obedience and insight for my merc. the only time i need the mana regen is when i’m teleporting around for fast farming, but i keep obedience for when i need him to kill faster than he does with insight. i’m not mana-starved either way, so i found myself leaving obedience on him more often, unless i’m spam farming countess or something.
This is the way. Good luck!
Rolled 5os with cube formula. At least it saved me a socket quest. Fal and Ko are cheap enough so made the Obedience and got a decent +283 defense.
I’ve an 89 sorc w/ an eth obedience thresher merc. I have a torch and tal’s set but the rest of my build is relatively mediocre and mostly comes from freebies games. The only time I run out of mana is when teleporting (and only when I’ve been having a lot of trouble finding where I’m teleporting to, e.g. the next floor).
My merc can do a ton of dmg which is quite nice.
Meditation is overrated methinks.
You are right. With Frostburn my Blizzorc didn’t need Insight at all. Obedience is a strong weapon but Reapers still has the advantage due to life leech which allows more helm options.
Usually u care less Abt the def, more on the all res stats which is 20-30 I believe. ;p
Obedience is a great weapon I always have a few on my account somewhere. Roll the etherel weapon in the cube and try for four sockets though imo
Personally I think Obedience is a great weapon, high damage, 40CB and 30 all res.
Don’t think it is ever the best, then again it costs allot less than the best.
Except for the bowazon I think others might profit from the weapon aswell.
Casters that are self-sufficient on mana would profit from the CB allot.
Trapper that can’t afford Infinity.
Summoner that can’t afford pride. (many necro builds I guess).
I use it on a lvl 93 sorc, there is nothing I cant run with 2 belt slots for mana pots. Its also good for melee character’s mercs when using dracs as gloves
Obedience is great weapon, although transition one, it is weapon you give merc till you can give him BiS weapon.
Dont really like it on Summoner + cold damage is incredibly annoying.
Understand that, however only the ones the merc targets can get chilled and only 25% of the chilled monsters shatters.
And since it will kill allot faster than your summons it will increase the speed in which you can do corpse explosion.
So it really isn’t that bad.
I know that, but it somehow always feel like it is the first monster from the pack which shatters .
