NPCs are charging more gold to revive mercenaries

Has this ever happened to anyone? Is it some bug? Tyrael charged me around 54.000 gold to revive my lvl84 act1 mercenary. I thought the maximum gold for reviving mercenaries was 50.000. I’m not sure how long this has been happening because my mercenary rarely dies.

I checked this topic. If it’s a bug, it looks like it hasn’t been fixed yet.

Amplisa is lvl95 Act1 merc and costs 66,666… pretty creepy eh?

Mine as of last night (lvl 87 I believe) was 50k. Not sure why yours is more than mine.

Because he is the Archangel of Wisdom and he knows you can affort it.
He also wants a PS5 but the bloody scalpers are artificially raising prices so he needs the money.

This is strange. I checked the forum and it didn’t just happen to me. Others reported increased price of resurrecting mercenaries

I know the gas price is high but Tyrael could give we a discount. Seems like angels have bills to pay too

my level 86 zon merc cost 56k to revive, my level 89 a2 merc cost 50k still. Idk if this is class specific or not but it seems it might be.

You people should have gotten a Frenzy merc, they love to fight so much they revive for 11.111 gold, even at 80+

lol really :joy:? I’ve been with this mercenary Aliza since the normal difficulty quest 2 reward. I was just sick of the act2 mercenary for so many years, but if she’s costing my hard-earned gold then I’ll have to retire her to go act5 frenzy

Its tradition that any class that uses a bow must be overly expensive to run😂

Funny aside, the game code is buggy, no kidding…

It happens, seen it original D2LOD last summer when trying this game again.

Work-a-round, revive, grab all the gear into some place safe, buy/hire same type… boom back to 50K for a long while again…

Well, considering she rarely dies, I think I’ll keep her and pay the interest Tyrael is charging me to resurrect her. Sometimes I think this is an increase in the charge for each death of the merc, but apparently it’s a bug

Maybe it depends on what equipment your merc are using. This is not really a big problem

This is new with D2R. Both original D2 and D2R uses text (.txt) files to handle a lot of the game’s stats and information, and there exists hireling.txt that defines merc stats/skills and whatnot.

In original D2 merc revive cost is hardcoded into the game’s binaries and capped at 50K, while in D2R there’s a new column in hireling.txt labeled “resurrectcostmax” which controls how much they can cost to revive.

I’m not sure if that column was included in D2R at release or if it was something added with 2.4, but we can see that some values are the regular 50K gold cap that we’re used to, while others are increased or decreased.

Act 1 mercs are capped at 66666, A2 and A3 capped at 50K, some A5 mercs are capped at 50K, some at 11111, some at 66666, some at 42000, and some at 40000.

I’m not sure why they decided to change this, maybe just as a fun little joke or something.

Yes the column about maximum price in hireling.txt was there before 2.4 i.e in 2.3 and earlier, and Yes the changes to certain max revive costs were done in 2.4

is it a bug, or is it intended: beats me, devs have to clarify this one

Yeah not shaiting you.
I thought it was bugged at first, but had it on the second char where I used an act5 Frenzy merc as well, asked a friend and he had the same thing.
Probably a mistake and wouldn’t be surprised it will be patched somewhere, but never paid more than 11.111 resurrecting one.

wow thats terrible, a few thousand gold more when other people like me are gambling away millions and millions of gold lol

wonder if geeds and edge bow help?

This is quite interesting. I don’t remember if this was mentioned in any patches or in the D2R release, but it’s good to know, although it’s nothing too serious. Thank you very much

No problems. I’ll stay with Miss Rogue. It’s normal for women to cost more money anyway

You’d think after saving his butt and single-handedly defeating evil, he would at least give you a discount.
