Not the same D2

Disillusioned fanboys can say what they want, but this doesn’t feel or play the same.

It’s like they took all the bad from the original D2 and made sure to amplify it.

I was hoping for more than a fresh coat of paint, but VV obviously phoned this in then threw the phone in a river.

Rubberbanding, lag spikes, and insta-kill mobs take all the fun away. And before anyone jumps on my connection as the issue… it’s not. Way more demanding games have zero problems, but I can’t play alone online without D2 stuttering worse than a fully loaded short bus (aka Blizz employees otw to work) offroading down the grand canyon. Combined with the total lack of support or communication on plans for the game and the laundry list of other issues it’s a no-brainer not to support this company any further.

Thanks again, Blizz! /s

I haven’t had any problems since a few days after launch. Maybe it’s you?

But it IS the same D2.

All of the issues you mentioned, I also had back in the day, as well as now.

Yeah , i forgot - ‘‘insta-kill mobs’’ never existed in the original D2 and the connection was just perfect.

Feels exactly the same.

Yep, same misery for me, that’s why i delete my online char and go solo now.

Gameplay wise only noticed tiny differences definitely not enough to complain about imo. Then again I suppose I have not made high 90 with every class yet.

Once I’ve done that I will know but I’m betting they will be so small that ill just adapt to any changes and play. The original D2 was full of little things you had to know where going to happen its just part of the game. Part of any game.

Stability wise I’ve been rock solid for ages now frames ping temperatures are all good. Game looks great and plays great for me and my set up Is not top end by any stretch of the imagination.

I also have problems with loading screen, very slow loading up to 5 seconds before something happen. I have nearly died a couple of times because of this and I was thinking about taking a Diablo II Resurrected break untill this is fixed…

One last problems I have is that the game is nearly constantly crashing to desktop.
So damn frustrating

Have not had Rubber banding but servers been crap tonight disconnecting lots. I would ahte to play Hardcore.

Main thing i agree with, Blizzard just dont show their presence in these forums anymore and they have lost the plot when it comes to keeping us informed of whats happening.

In its day Blizzard had staff that would constantly post and reply to topics.

I crash about every hour I play. Fortunately for me, it’s always when I’m in the lobby looking for a game, or when I exit a game. So, I haven’t lost anything (items, progress, etc.).

Haven’t seen hardly any rubber banding since that first weekend. But, I play on the Americas servers.

Kinda weird to see people with all these problems…I like crashed once in a week, always able to connect…rarely lag, got desync maybe 3 times, didn’t notice any rubber banding since Beta…monsters are strong without good gear, also the game plays 99.99% the same…so I’m not sure why we have such a different experience. Only complain is that the game is taxing the computer more than it should.

I even have issues closing the game, takes ages, or starting it.

My ingame experience is the same, no matter if I put settings higher or lower, exactly the same.

I’ll try an offline character, I may not have the most recent PC or G-card (GTX 1050), but I didn’t expect it would run this bad.

I have personally been playing since release day without any crash or lag, really enjoying the game so far! And if mobs insta-kill you, it probably means you have the wrong build, or are under-geared, or simply are not playing well

Im running a GTX 960 and i5-4570 and the only issues i got are less than 5 crashes in almost 2 weeks and a very annoying visual artifacts when Spirit wolf or Dire wolf despawns. Ofc my gpu and cpu are old so im playing on Medium to play with stable fps. I can run high preset but i can feel the fps drops then.

I’d rather they spent the resources on cleaning up the original D2.

Oh well. I’ll play ladder 1 and then toss this in the garbage

It’s your issue, not mine. No rubberbanding and lag spikes on me. Although I have some disconnections from time to time. But yesterday, I played the whole day and there was no disconnections.

Yeah, I have some insta-kill mobs when I got Malice Weapon and Ancient’s Pledge Shield at low levels. Runewords seems too OP. But Duriel humiliated me on my first attempt (but never on 2nd). Looks like it’s pretty the same to me on how it was.

Agreed for the most part.
The only advantages D2R offers are the graphics, some badly implemented stash tabs, and there fact there are a lot of idiots to play with.

The negatives are legion though.

  • Crashes
  • Lag Spikes on players joining.
  • Lag Spikes on players leaving.
  • Broken Friends List.
  • A worse version of the old Failed to Join bug.
  • 20 Character Limit(Massive downgrade)
  • No real reason to play Ladder.
  • No viable way to acquire Anni short of RMT.
  • Controller balance issues.
  • Borked Lobby.
  • Lack of mod support.
  • No TCP/IP support.
  • Ect.

Also don’t know why people are dismissing the Lag/Crash issues. I play with 2 friends and all of us are having the same issues. Hell we’re having a smoother experience on Star Citizen these days.

Is not that people are dismissing lag and crash issues. Me for example i only crashed without an error message 3 times in almost 2 weeks. I got a few lag spikes the first days but… i have to say that i see a lot of people that suddenly stops and few seconds later they disconnect and join back to just play 3 or 5 minutes to repeat that again.

About that list you posted, TCP/IP i only used 1 time in D2LoD i remember that i got port issues and i was unable to connect to official servers and i by that time i did not even know how to forward ports. Mods i only played PD2 very hyped on release and i lasted less than 3 weeks playing it, it was too easy to gear up imo.

Friendlist and private messages are just bull***t to notice private messages you need a second screen if you dont want to miss something 90% of the time.

The 20 character limit i dont know if its a bug or a feature because some people are able to make more than 20.

About the ladder who knows we only know that it should be opened on day one but we really know nothing. Maybe will be a nice ladder or maybe it wont matter at all, the only thing i know is that i will give it a try sure.

hehe in my head i keep thinking that i bought a lemon (broke car) from a dealership.
the thing was really pretty, the paint job was wonderful, and wow did it look nice and seemed to test drive ok!

But i bought it, and on the way home some of that pretty veneer started to peel off, the car didnt run well, and now im just hoping to get to my intended destination dealing with stalls and flats and stuff. Im afraid at what is running under the hood >_<

I love d2r so far and Im playing regardless, but a lot of the time it really does feel like if you just knew what was going on with the code or anything at the core, it would be bad

Sorry for the weird analogy, I simply wanted to share

I actually agree with this, the original battle net realm of D2 was way smoother, It’s like they did not bother to make proximity servers for each region, gameplay is awful it’s ALWAYS laggy and at first I thought they are just having issues because of launch but it seems to be the norm and it doesn’t look like it’s going to change which is a shame
