In GM melee, there is a BM technique called shifting.
What is shifting?
When two players approach each other in a GM melee duel, a shifter will unscrupulously press shift instead of exchanging blows with their opponent. The shifter will be in a stationary position and start swinging first while the other player that is approaching ends up running into the swing. This allows the shifter to get the first hit around 85% of the times. In a game format where victory is decided by 2~5 hits, this greatly affects the gameplay and obviously the outcome.
Why is this problematic?
This is problematic for many reasons.
- many GM melee players spend hours and hours on maxroll calculating their build but shifters ruin this experience by stealing victories
- shifting works especially well with berserker axe. so most players are just buying cheap ethereal death cleavers. When players just start buying cheap edcs, botting will eventually stop. However, when botting stops, you will have no recurring revenue. Botters will not buy new accounts since all the GM melee players will be using ethereal death cleavers.
Solution:
- If you can, please have a shift icon popup next to the character’s box in the upper lefthand corner whenever a player presses shift. This way we can know for certain when a shifter has pressed the button.
- limit the range of zerkers to range 1.
Currently, it is set to range 2. by limiting the range of zerkers, the only other range 2 weapon would be the scourge which is weak and unreliable. - severely nerf ethereal death cleavers.
- when in hostile mode, get rid of stationary position. so no swinging while standing still
any of these four solutions would work.
Thank you.
