Noob Question On Spirit Runeword

I desperately need some Defense and I can’t find t a great shield so I decide to Craft a Spirit Rune word shield.

I have 2 White Item shields with the following attributes.
1 is a Superior Heraldic Shield
28 defense
+36% All Resist
6% Enhance defence

The other is a Akaran Rondance
128 Defense
+32 All Resist

Is either of these a good candidate?

I’d recommend the higher def shield for sure.

They’re both fine and spirit is a cheap runeword, so you can always find a better shield later and just make another =)

Thank you SmashingZwan. Do the extra attributes matter when you craft a shield?

Akaran Rondache for sure… I assume you’re equipping a Paladin. If not neither.

Yes I’m a Paladin.

Want defense? Craft an Ancients pledge, not as strong for a caster but better resistances. If you are a caster craft a spirit sword instead. Spirit shield is great as long as you have adequate fire resistance, as spirit provides no fire resistance, although the resistance of the basic shield will be added. I assume you are a paladin since you are talking paladin shields. PS: The Akaran Rondache is best so you must be in nightmare.

Thanks Bovie. I am a paladin act 2 Hell. Do you think I should hold off a little more for a better defense shield?

Personally, 32 all resistance added to 48 all resistance is pretty good. Ancients pledge is a cheap rune word to craft, can easily replace if a better shield drops.
I just worry a spirit shield where good for a hammerdin will lack fire resistance will will be difficult to make up. But I don’t know where your resistances are at the moment, but you can figure it.
I farmed Andy in hell and got the Zakarum unique shield pretty quick, I was lucky.
