Adding cast bar is not a smart move. Blizzard is ruining this game by adding changes to it.
Let’s boycott action bar, boycott further changes.
why? i like the changes if you want d2 classic is out there go playit
How the hell do you boycott a game you bought and can’t refund?
(Shocked Pikachu Face) OMG?! Is Blizzard actually updating the game?! Makes no sense after an entire year of multiple official surveys, media interviews that stated that they would listen to the community feedback, media interview where stated “Live Service Game, We don’t really make an out of the box game anymore” as well as the fact this was both alluded to in the accessibility blog before Beta (The skill rebinds) and a Blue post a couple of weeks back stating about significant features and bug fixes. How could this happen? /s
If you mean “until the bugs are fixed first,” then I’m with you 100%.
If you’re being a purist about a 20yr old game somehow being perfect, you lost me.
you do get that it’s optional yeah? Also, a really welcome change
Zip your wallet for future releases? Stop playing permanently? Participate in bad publicity?
That’s what i’d do. They already announced a PTR for upcoming balance changes and content, so I’m already out and wallet zipped.
So much for getting old Diablo fans back into the genre, LOL. Had the opposite effect on me.
Damn. That’ll show ‘em.
See ya during first season! Most of the people that posted that they refunded before launch, still bought the game and were/are playing. Only one I think that I hadn’t seen is Ebola, and I suspect he may come back after hearing about the Skill Bar (one of the reasons he refunded iirc).
This should have been no surprise to people following D2R news and interviews all year. First PTR is also the database change, probably a couple other features as well. Don’t think balance changes are coming yet. As long as they don’t pull a massive 1.10 level of overbalancing, I’m pretty happy to see some.
United we stand, devided we fall
As a lone customer, sure. But I am certain there will be revenue loss in future titles.
Nope
The game will no longer be interesting to me, so why tf would i play it? lol.
At least I got to play it for a month and a half, even though it still was a subpar game compared to the original, except for the graphics.
Just goes to show that this company has not learned from the fiasko that was Diablo 3, which leaves me no hope, nor expectations or interest in the sequel.
All franchises run out of steam sooner or later, books, movies, games, whatever.
Blizzard seems to be aiming for “sooner.”
Mabye they think that people won’t remember who they are after they rebrand. I mean, seriously?
Well, they got they’re 40$ this time, but lost potential hundreds of $ in the future from me alone. Great business plan.
The game needs more changes. People that don’t want any changes should go play D2. D2R needs to be more modernized.
If you want to play classic, go play classic. Modernizing the game is a good thing. Also, this already exists on console, they’re just bringing it to PC.
Well, your loss. I have faith that they are going to do good things with D2R, despite the shaky launch. I quit playing the original on battlenet after I realized how bad it really was online with the botting, and SP mods (Plugy, Succubus) reinvigorated the game for me. Would have continued SP if they didn’t nuke TCP, but still having a blast with D2R on modern bnet, even if solo most of the time except for Baal runs.
Now with that said, while I will still probably buy D4, it sure as hell won’t be at launch. Two major Diablos having massive server issues…I’ll wait until the server kinks are out, though with D3, it was really only bad the first day…with D2R…legacy coding made it longer.
That fiasco of selling 10x more units, then having a successful expansion that sold way more than D2 also.
I think they just didn’t learn what you personally wanted them to.
Leaving the game as is will leave them with a playerbase of 1000 purists who are terrified about losing their nostalgia addiction.
Updating it opens the possibility for growth.
I sense sarcasm in the OP.
Just a hunch, but probably right.
you go ahead and do that, the rest of us are going to enjoy the QoL features.
Not even comparable. There were a lot less gamers back then, especially pc gamers. It’s like comparing car sales in 1960 to car sales in 2021.
Also, D3’s sales were heavily influenced by D2’s success. D2 is actually one of the highest scoring game titles of all time.
Possibility of growth, or possibility of decay. Probably the latter. This game is old, trying to modernize it isn’t going to please people as much as they think it will. The game would need to be rebuilt from the ground to fit modern standards.
