just completed 100 Hell Shenk runs not 1 Monarch.
Seems like you only find them when you have one.

do you think you have better odds killing one set of monsters over and over?
i find the best stuff when i’m fighting a non special monster in a corner somewhere… good luck

Yes it often feels like once you get your first monarch, a bunch start dropping everywhere but this is actually simply that, d2 drop calculator is the most complex out there…it will actually sense what items you are hoping will drop and take them out of the drop table. You must understand yourself through deep reflection, do not think of any thoughts while killing the forces of hell and only then will a monarch possibly drop for you…
Shenk may not be the best place, go for high density areas. Hell cows is great
Yeah, I always find my monarchs on Cows.
I have found a lot of Monarchs and seem to have good luck getting 4 sockets with the cube but can’t ever get 35 FCR.
So you have the option
- to go for ONE unique that drops few normal items (if at all), but a lot of magics / rares / sets / uniques.
- Or to go for HUNDREDS of cows that all drop normals and the surrounding has a lot of stashes and dead rogues etc, also with lots of normals.
Which one do you pick for farming a normal monarch? 
spirit monarch in cube with tp scroll and hel rune … removes runeword … re-socket runeword … repeat until get 35%
You’d entertain to know that no ETH Monarch for me.
SP. Tyraels, nearly all Uniques, 6 Maras, enough HRs, Sojs, Arachs, 10 Shakos and whatnot, but still no Eth Monarch.
If you ask me, this is the beauty of D2. In other games you may beg and get what you want, but not here. Life is scarce.
I found 2 arcane valors from hell meph before getting a shako… Literally ran Hell meph for 40+hrs…
then right after getting a shako i got another one instantly in a hell cow game from a pack of cows…
