This should NOT be possible, hellforge will ALWAYS drop some combination of runes and gems.
You chimp-devs and your half-cocked code have cost me a hellforge reward! Fix this asap, I’m not the only one having this issue (as the only info I can find online about no drops from hellforge is recent posts complaining about D2:R!)

The fact that this bug is even possible is what is concerning.
I don’t care much about this non-ladder state of the game, but as someone who intends to invest a lot of time into hardcore mode ladder pushes, I would very much rather the game not be riddled with bugs that can screw over/kill off my characters…
Also inb4 ladder delayed for several months or more with damn near radio silence…
And I was level 49 in act 4 when I logged out… it appears my character is level 45 now and in act 3 >.>
I just had no drop from Hell Hellforge 
you’re gonna get rolled back, my dude just seems to have lost 4 levels (49 to 45) and at least 3 quests of progression if not several more
Had no drop from hellforge hell just 10 min ago, like 2 min. before server went down.
Sadly the quest is still completed without ever giving runes or gems
I just had exactly the same happen. Never experienced this before in my 20 years of D2 playing.
I’m guessing someone was duping the quest rewards somehow and they messed up in patching it?
I got a Pul from Hell forge, log in a few hours later and its gone. I could redo forge somehow and got 0, dropped nothing…
update: after about 6 hours my character is FINALLY back, and guess what:
NO ROLLBACK… so i missed out on a nightmare hellforge drop… cool stuff, thanks blizzard!
