Nihlathak Strategy Hell Mode

So as a Sorceress, I’m still having a problem with this guy.

I’ve got full Tal Rasha’s Set and a Spirit Shield - Resists are maxxed at 75%. FCR is at the 105% breakpoint.

But I die more than half the time trying to get him. I find him, teleport into the area, drop a Firewall, and attempt to Teleport out…and this is when I die. For the record, I’m running Blizzard/Firewall build…which is insane for bosses and stuff…but this one guy gives me grief ever time.

I wear a natures peace here, its usually his corpse explosion that gets you and natures peace prevents thats.

Find an item with monster rest in peace on it. Makes nil totally useless.

Let’s be clear, are you dying to Vipers or to Nihlathak? Nihlathak’s main form to damage is from corpse explosion. As long as you aren’t near a corpse you should be able to avoid that. Vipers are just scary no matter what.

I either die to the mobs, or a corpse explosion. One of either my firewall or merc kills the adds while the boss is going down, allowing the corpse explosion.

I’ll have to look into Nature’s Peace and hope it doesn’t mess up the rest of my build…but that sounds promising.

EDIT: I have a ring slot open…so I guess I’m going to search for this ring.

nature’s peace can help but keep in mind any merc kills will not apply rest in peace mod to slain monster so nihlathak can still use CE. i’m using a lightning sorc to farm him and i generally don’t have any issues unless there are vipers. i normally clear the area around him before i start tackling his minions and eventually nihl himself so maybe you need to adjust your strategy.

Good thing to know. At the same time…since I have a free ring slot, no reason not to use it for that. Soooo, if anyone has one, lol.

If you have time to read, I’ve clipped some information you may find useful in your battle. helps to know your foe, right!

Battling Nihlathak is a unique experience. He is a summoner, and he presides over a vast mob of ‘Minnions’ and uses them as his weapons. He has no melee strikes at all, and only a chilling Arctic Blast spell for direct damage. The real danger comes from his use of the Necromancer’s Corpse Explosion skill, which he uses to detonate the corpses of fallen monsters. These explosions deal substantial fire and physical damage, and prior to being considerably nerfed a bit in v1.09, Nihlathak was the single most dangerous monster in Act Five. Hardcore characters virtually never risked him, and only very high hit point builds, such as Druids teamed with Barbarians, felt safe risking his 1000+ damage Corpse Explosions. On the right hand side, you can see him being defeated by a Barbarian, using the frenzy attack.

I would recommend staying at a distance until you can remove the corpses as a threat. If you Freeze those adds, there’s a chance the corpses shatter and cannot be used by corpse explosion.

You could throw fireballs quite a distance as well.
And there’s always the leeroy option…

Good luck bud. you got this

sure i have an extra one, add me, guitars#1883

Don’t kill anything, drop meteor then static field on Nith, 1 shot for sure (unless he’s immune to Lightning which is rare) then clear left over. Works for me.

you need to use the nature peace ring so he can’t use corpse explosion
