New trend is going around discord communities - RMT

It looks like Real money sites are reaching Discord communities to offer money to owner and big discount on their site for advertising their real money site on the discord servers with 4% discount to anyone who will go there with code posted on discord server.

This is sad as these sites damage online playing and sadly some admins keep advertising for them with different excuses. I just got banned on one big Diablo 2: ressurected for speaking out about it and admin kept deleting my messages and then banned me for speaking truth about this because I know there is money involved. Same offer from RMT. To show you how it looks like from discord when I was just banned speaking about this by admin Permaximum:

Imgur

I obviously covered the link as I dont want anyone to go there and pay with real mone for items to feed botters. This is already second big discord who did this. First one practicaly biggest trading discord out there which i will not link as I am still there and occasionaly trading. But many people left from there after they had same announcement.

Discord which I consider my D2 home has great admin who declined offer from RMT scum. So if you are finding new home after this happeneing this in your discord and you dont agree or were banned for speaking out , feel free to visit ours as we are against this:

And I aplaud to every admin of bigger D2 discords who declined the offer from RMT site as there are still some decent not greedy people.

Unfortunately this sort of thing comes with the territory when you have unregulated trades. Blizzard should have incorporated a trade board/system into the game and made that the only way to trade, and be fully logged. It would cut down on the RMT by quite a bit if we couldn’t just trade the way we’ve always traded in D2. A secure trading system would also kill off the scammers as well since the system would be able to clearly show what the item(s) have for stats, etc. No more green “shako” shenanigans.

It would need to be more intuitive and less toxic than Path of Exile’s board though so players weren’t compelled to try anything except the actual in-game trading system. This is one area where D2R could learn from a major mistake that the PoE devs made.

I won’t lie and say this idea is a silver bullet. It isn’t. There isn’t one either since no one system is going to please everyone and at least some portion of the playerbase will find it cumbersome to use (or just not bother trying to learn, either/or). But having something that most players can or will use would be better than what PoE has where nobody wants to use it because it’s so awful.

Secure trading systems to avoid third party interventions should have been one of the top priorities for a remaster like this.

Blizz tried with d3 but everyone cried that it was rmt & pay to win… building out a trade system for d2r is wayyyy too much development work, you see how minimal effort they are putting in for lobby & QoL stuff so for people to expect they have the ability and money to create a bespoke built in trading system is asinine… everyone best be happy they got to play d2r before spam bots, mf bots, maphacks & dupes become as rampant as classic d2.

Yes, fully agree

Can’t agree with that. How about casual trading between friends or dropping on the floor?

Yes…

I think the best way to put an end to this is to do what Jagex did. set up a ingame centralized trading system. idk what the currency would be, but perhaps it can be something similar to D2jsp but it would be INGAME instead of 3rd party site.

this is an issue that should have been solved many years ago…

And another Big Discord Server turned to the dark side of RMT.

It is really a shame. RMT is against TOS, everyone knows that and a decent server should not promote rmt in any way or form.

I have no idea what the solution for D2:R should be - we have no chance to “repair” the original D2 but now we still have the chance to repair the trading system D2:R.
We need to modernize and reform it in some form to contain rmt.

I do also vouch for the Discord Server Zax posted

Glad I still follow my dialup rules…

Everyone in this game is out to $#!% me over… Everyone for themselves!

Is that Wild West enough for you?

yeah its sad we lost another discord which did fell for the RMT BS and greed of admin team there.

Because it was - Blizzard guy admitted AH/RMAH were affecting drops in game for everyone. Drop in Diablo3 was practically non-existing these days, the only meaningful way to upgrade was through auction houses, and it created a self-propelling, unbreakable loop: bots running 24/7 were founding nice items and placed them on AH/RMAH > that influenced drop rate of similar items in game > players could not find needed item on their own and were forced to buy from auction house > drop rates of these nice items were increasing enough for never-ending farming bots to obtain replacements, but not enough for honest players > and at infinitum like that.

I was pissed off so hard I’ve quit D3 entirely, and didn’t come back after removing auction houses, and release of Reaper of Souls.

However, regarding Diablo 2 Ressurected I think that properly introduced Auction House, by properly I mean a platform which allows exclusively trading, and is doing nothing else should improve whole process of exchange goods.

Ok, so, this has been around for a while and well known … is this an advertisement thread to further make it aware and to drum up business. The way it is posted it sure appears so …

Otherwise, Blizzard has been made MORE THAN AWARE OF that they are the sole reason for profit trading sites. It was their own doing. They know that they have not provided a proper trading platform, nor made in-game items suitable for non-use on these sites. Whilst they “say” they are addressing the downfall, they typically do nothing as they have over many years. “Insiders” have fully taken advantage of unbalancing and pay-for-gear sites and made huge profits. “Insiders” also influence the lack of action to correct this situation.

I am sure they are fully capable of implementing something worthy, but choose not to … the one “excuse” is the old architecture of the game and the code as well as having no programmers proficient enough to tackle this problem, which is all a load of crap and we all know it.

They could easily implement a Blizzard trade forum or AH through simply using an outside website like everyone else does. Or, my favorite, “EAT CROW” and pay one of the original programmers to code in something like that. But, because of their past history, Blizzard would have to pay big for that. So it only would benefit the players and not Blizzard. So, it won’t happen.

They could alter the code so that items have to be registered to be traded from one player to another and only their own trade platform could have that registration key … am not even a programmer, so how could I come up with this and they cannot. It would be a less invasive way to go …

Are you accuse me of advertising for them with this topic? Thats hilarious. Yes its known for a while, like few weeks back when probably biggest trading discord had same announcement which caused plenty of bans of people who didnt agree with it, even from mod team and some people left server. I posted this because this is another bigt server when I saw it as its seems that RMT is buying greedy discord owners to advertise for them so I think its important issue to post about it.

I seen this in the D2 Reddit community recently, caused some issues and drama. D2R is going close to what I anticipated; very huge rmt push. I don’t play multiplayer as much, so don’t know if we really got massive cbaal runs yet or enchant bots. Lots of illegitimate money to be made on this game.

I googled a mist runeword before I put it together last night, and landed on an item selling site selling it for over a hundred bucks. Reinforced pretty much why I felt some sort of personal loot system was heavily pushed back upon, fear of boa and loss of these potential mass profits.

People complain about DI ptw, but people will spend money to get stuff outside of tos, but complain when Blizzard is actually profiting rather than the cheaters.

How do they dmg online playing?

They use bot farms or people who bot to support them
They constantly spam main D2R chat
They lower prices of items because of mass botting
They scam people

Tp be fair, the minute someone says they are a mod / admin for Reddit, you know where their head is at…

Well that admin Permaximum(screenshot in first post) from discord server apparently banned blizz rep from their subredit when he was told to stop his Alpha D2R keys giveaway scam. What a joke.

Yeah, also in the last week, I’ve noticed that the spam bots have found a loophole in trade chat to private message you while playing private games. They really need to just remove trade chat or multiple channels in chatbox.

It’s not quite as bad yet as the old D2 legit bots spamming the entire screen from back in the day, where you had to keep pressing n to clear.

Same one I got banned from LOL.

it’s oddly fitting that “sanctuary” is my new home.

Another D2R Discord server bites the dust. I hope Blizzard gets involved in some way and cracks down hard, but I have a feeling they are just going to sit back and watch as they did with bots in D2 originally.

BLIZZARD NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING.

Start banning players who own these discord channels, and probably start banning those who frequent them too.

THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AS A PAYING CUSTOMER. I EXPECT BETTER BOTTING/CHEATING/EXPLOITING DETERRENCE.
