New Runewords - Consider Better Names

As the developers are introducing eight new runewords for Season 3 to sprinkle in more variety, I wanted to share my initial thoughts about the runeword names (which some feel out of place with Diablo lore and aesthetics). With that said, below are suggestions for improving the names:

Runeword Names Suggested New Names
Hustle Haste, Fervor, Impetuous, Vehemence
Mosaic Calamity, Cataclysm, Cruelty, Havoc
Cure Restoration, Purification, Remediation, Invigoration
Ground Earth, Obsidian, Basalt, Monolith

No changes to Bulwark, Temper, Hearth or Metamorphosis as those names are fitting.

I agree on “Hustle”. The name feels out of place / comical; appearing based on trendy (for the moment) contemporary language. However, a different name would mean the design stats no longer align.

You don’t think Haste or Flash is a more fitting name than Hustle?

Your names are too cool for what these runewords are tho. The coolness of the name should reflect how good the rw actually is. Like Enigma. Infinity. I know those are BiS by name alone.

Hustle works for this rw. Same with the rest. Apt.

I prefer Alacrity to haste.

Or Ardor, fervor, vehemence.

I prefer “Haste” over “Hustle”

Unfortunately “Haste” does not align with “burst of speed”

Both Hustle and Burst of speed reduce to 6

Haste reduces to 8

However, both “Haste” and “Vigor” reduce to 8.

( synchronicity experience as I type this the link to “Haste” earlier in the thread has 8 “clicks” and it is 449am = 8 and 1 edit at 16 minutes = 8, original post has 4 edits 13 hrs ago = 8, 23rd and 24th ( dates of first and last post ) = 11, with 11 / 11 posts = 11 11 11 = 33 = 6, and both edits 18 minutes ago 18 + 18 = 26 = 8, at time of posting my total posts reduce to 3, and the total of all the numbers in direct visible area = 3 = 33 = 6)

Fervor is a great name and fits better than Nimble. Updated OP per your suggestion.

I agree with OP’s sentiment - some of the runewords give me silly, cartoony vibes that make me reminiscent of D3 (not the vibe/fit for D2, imho).

Hustle - Change to “Haste” or “Fervor” - good suggestions by OP

Ground- change to Rubber (jk, change to Conduit or something else)

Mosaic- this one feels lukewarm and lackluster - perhaps “Flux”, “Calamity”, or “Cataclysm”, though the last two are probably more appropriate for runewords that have more flair

I agree. Those names are more fitting than Mosaic. Updated OP based on your feedback.

Good idea and changed to “Conductor” or “Disruptor” as it seems fitting for helm with lightning resist.

Nope. It will kill my hopes for them to add at some point „Loyality” and „Respect”, so I can run Barb with John Cena set and use 3 moves of doom :smile:
