New patch notes are out!

And there is absolutely zero mention of console play. Fantastic!

That was never intended to be in this patch, they said they’ll announce something when they have something to announce about console lobbies.

Probably 2023 before console gets any love. Lol. Although I love the added level 85 areas. Now farming won’t be so boring with more places to hit

I could care less about lobbies. They could simply add a list of current games you can choose fromand a create public game tab and I’d be ok. More importantly, there are so many UI problems on consoles that it’s like their testers threw console play in as an afterthought, which sucks.

No worries, you can now max increased stamina and find potion! lol 1.10 was such garbage, synergies need to go away not have more created

They did not mention any bugfixes or anything around general QoL improvements either.

Now on the one hand, the purposes of the announcement was really ā€œhey we have made these specific changes, will you go and check them out?ā€ and I think it’s highly likely that, when 2.4 is released, it will contain some bugfixes and other things not related to ā€œclass-balance.ā€

On the other hand… nothing really surprises me any more. Like they totally did decide to spend developer time and money making these changes before fixing some pretty major bugs and other issues.

Yea… I’m gettin pissed off at lack of console updates… it’s bad enough that even the UI on console sux by comparison, and for no reason at all, they haven’t implemented keyboard and mouse use on console, even though the game is geared to use those natively…

They should have synced console and PC updates. Consoles are close enough to being PC’s these days as it is…

Worse than the lack of console updates is all the in-your-face PC updates… we get to see all of the great progression that we’ll never actually see in the game before we get bored and stop playing…

And as console players, we paid just as much, if not more, for the game as the PC players did…

But that’s fine, they want us to play on PC that bad, I’ll stick to pirating Bliz games and using private servers from now on…

Give us our money’s worth, or you no get our money, simple!

it’s annoying, i get it, i aint happy about the lobby system too on console, though I’m not having all these other issues other people seem to be having so maybe that’s why I’m still enjoying the game.

It’s always going to be better on PC than console, and games are rarely sync’d with patches on PC - Console, especially when you throw Switch in the mix which is known to be a nightmare, and takes the longest to patch.

It’s easy to make all sort of assumptions on why things are the way they are, but realistically none of us are Dev’s so no one really knows. Only thing I agree with is the community Manager should make a a post about consoles HERE in the forums, even if it’s to say " we have nothing yet" LET the people know, that at least shows us the team’s working on it.

While I’VE seen his posts on twitter, I know not everyone has, so it’s totally understandable that most would think they’re not doing anything/don’t care.

It takes work to progressively develop any game, D2R is no acception to that. But work is not an excuse… Like I said, we paid just as much if not more for the game as PC players did, so we should see as many updates. If that isn’t possible then either hire more devs, or lower the cost of the game on console.

What really annoys me is the shortsighted argument that just because someone can’t develop a game, means they have no right to complain about a game… We’re customers that purchased a product, and we expect to see the company of which we purchased said product, give us at least the same amount of service that the other platforms of said product receive, or else to see lower prices on that product.

Like, if you walk into a restaurant, order food, and get a bug in your food, you don’t have other people sitting on the sidelines telling you to just eat it because the cook has as difficult job…

You miss that? ^ lol I was agreeing. You’re replying like I didn’t just say I agreed with that chunk of what you said. All I was saying it’s typical for PC versions of a game to get updates before console, Diablo isn’t the exception.

That’s not even remotely close to comparable lol you’re comparing getting food poisoning to buying a game that needs updates/fixes ( which there has been a number of fixes and updates since the game launched on both PC and Console, it’s just not " the" update we ALL really want yet)… consequences for being negligent with food could be as severe as causing death… let’s not get carried away here lol.

wholeheartedly agree!

It’s my opinion that people measure their anger with version differences.

The platforms operate in vastly different ways. The versions do their best to take advantage of all capabilities the platform has.

It’s the ignorance (willful or NOT) of how the platforms work that makes people believe a software utopia can exist.

Maybe we can look for more information and reduce anger and confusion.

so whats their excuse for never fixing anything on PC in last 20 year? u see the number of patch 1.09.1.10.1.11 i stopped to play 10year+ago on 1.11 pretty sure u can still dupe like crazy on PC and that u can also duel bug other player still

Well I’d call it ā€˜reason’ not ā€˜excuse’ but I can think of a few.

It’s important to put things in a neutral mindset when you come up with a theory. No bias.

I’d say it has been my experience that bonus ā€œmaintenanceā€ tapers off as games age. Player counts on their servers taper off to a point that it’s not cost effective to keep maintaining the game.

As for duping. The issue at the time was made far worse by the fact that there were so few multiplayer games in existance. Not to mention how much better D2 was than any other game of the time. You had a lot of very intelligent young developers and hackers in the making just determined to wage war on items.

Blizzard ran out of incentives to combat item duping over time. A new generation of games and profit was forward in the future.

E-Sports and then WoW was the future and it was absolutely the correct choice.

ok and what about the duel glitch , where if your inventory was full , people were dropping unique on ground so dueler with max gc in inventory try to take the unique , and at same time the other player were killing them and all their gear was dropping on ground ( like all potion drop when ur inventory full and u die )

That would be part of dwindling resources to patch the game.

This happens to all games. It’s part of the natural life of the product. They are not going to keep updating until it’s perfect.

You either run out of time or money between new product launches.

Game companies make small teams with people from the games developement and sometimes new employees to ā€˜cut their teeth’ , to maintain a game. Then the others are working on the new games.

The process then repeats and that’s a developement cycle.

yes a patch should be in the 1st year , not for 15 consecutive years.

The patches for D2 were consistant with how often other games were being patched.

Patching was much more rare than people experience now. Remember this was 56k Modems era. Patching with frequency is modern.

To put things in context for people how slow 56k modems worked.

dude , i was loading faster with that 56k modem , that on PS4 right now… it ridiculous how long the loading are , compared to my old windows 1996 PC with 128 mhz and 256 ram it was turbo next to ps4 console like Instant load , 5 second max

Sorry if this is getting long but it may be interesting to understand the roots of D2

Diablo 2 was running in 800 x 600 Resolution. It was also not a 3D game engine. Instead it’s sprite animation.

To put D2 into context for modern gamers, the game didn’t have a game engine. It’s made from the ground up. Pre-engines.

This one guy has an interesting description of the source code of D2

How complex is the Diablo II source code?

They Lost the Source Code

People thought a remaster was extremely difficult and un-likely.

We should all be trying to learn about D2 and D2R. When you begin to realise how much they care and how games are made your opinion of Blizzard will begin to change.

Get to know them
