New patch, but Warren/Kabryxis said there’s no changes to the game files. Just your usual backend stuff. ![]()
Another one today, maybe an attempt to fix their broken handheld PC UI stuff?

Does backend include fixing broken skills such as whirlwind?
this can include any number of bug fixes, but without patch notes and no changes to the softcode files, we dont have any way of knowing without manually verifying.
dragon tail bug was fixed when WASD dropped, but apparently when WASD got rolled back, so did the dragon tail bug fix. that fix could be back in now. (i checked WASD and its not in)
no idea what else they may or may not have done.
also for clarity, i only checked the .txt files. the .json files were not checked.
They probably updated the minimum age requirements for Chinese players.

This is just a minor patch with no real notes. It is mostly addressing some handheld windows support items.
Thanks for the info Pez. ![]()
Is there someone I can talk with about how broken the barbarian skill whirlwind is? I’ve exchanged emails in the past with Mr. Cederquist and Mr. Stilwell about the game.
I’m putting together a video of all 4 version of the whirlwind barbarian – D2 (2000) ww, D2 LoD ww, D2R non-expansion ww, and D2R Expansion ww. I’m currently building (ssf) these characters using all the same gear, stats, and skills on all 4 characters, demonstrating just how broken D2R whirlwind is.
I don’t know what the fix is, but I assume there is a compatibility problem with the overlay and the dynamics of the skill underneath.
When I finish the video, and post it to your X account, and here, will you make sure it gets in front of the right eyes?
What do you mean by broken? What’s the problem with WW?
My D2 LoD ww meta is built around an eBotD Thunder Maul. My ww damage is 24K. In Diablo II Lord of Destruction this build on /p8 ‘clears’ Chaos and Diablo, takes out Nihlahak and all his minions, and the Throne and Baal, all around 8 minutes.
When I import that same character to D2R, with the same 24K damage, it takes me 10-12 minutes just to clear Chaos and Diablo. This I believe is due to the maul not hitting as much as it does in D2 LoD. An eBotD TM has very fast attack speed, and in D2R it gets plus 20% each from the amulet and the gloves and 15% from the helm – and it absolutely blows chunks.
In D2 weapon speed didn’t matter with ww. In D2 LoD weapon speed played a relatively important role, but off weapon ias had no affect, but there are workarounds with how you used the skill with slower weapons. So with a Bonesnap, a super slow ww weapon, it crushes in both D2 and D2 LoD, where as now, from what I understand, it requires 175% ias (impossible) to do what I can do with it in the original two versions of the game.
Keep the updates coming please and thanks!
Seems to be messing up my UI. I have a minipc running Windows 11 Home /w all updates and gfx card updates completed but the game launches immediately and scans for my controller. I’ve unplugged it and it’s still scanning/launching the UI like im playing with it, but I dont intend to.
A laptop with an AMD Ryzen 9 PRO 7940HS w/ Radeon 780M Graphics (4.00 GHz) processor was misidentified as a handheld Windows device.
Game is bugged - I use AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS w/ Radeon 780M Graphics (3.80 GHz)
I use a 2nd pc and its running fine but its AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX with Radeon Graphics (3.30 GHz)
I dont need these of useless handheld windows support thats really mess up
How can i close it and restore it as like as before?
This update is causing Diablo II: Resurrected to run in handheld mode on my Mini PC which has a 7640HS CPU with Radeon 760M graphics. The in game UI placement for the pop-up windows for Inventory, Character, etc. is messed up. It also enabled the Show Battery Level, which thankfully I can disable under Options > Gameplay > Show Battery Level (untick). I really hope they rollback this update until they can resolve this issue and do a proper release later.
My older laptop with Ryzen 5 5600H and 3060 doesn’t seem to be considered a handheld with the latest patch, fortunately. Same with my desktop Ryzen 7 5800X and 7800XT, although I didn’t expect it there since it’s desktop hardware.
eBotD TM in LoD was [20] base -60 IAS from BotD = -40 speed, which hit the -30 2H BP for 6 FPA.
In D2R if you have 55 additional IAS as stated, for a total of 115 IAS, then you reach the 83 IAS BP and also get 6 FPA.
Things like eBotD GPa and IK Maul have it worse, since they both used to be able to get 4 FPA but now 5 FPA is the max for 2H.
You need 174 for 5 FPA for TM as you mentioned, which in theory could be possible with 30 IAS from helm and Treachery armor of 45 IAS. You could also get Fana from merc. Hustle provides lvl 1 Fana which drops 5 FPA IAS required down to 109 IAS, which your setup already achieves. Lvl 12 Fana from Faith drops 5 FPA requirements down to 60. Obviously those options give up other gear and may not be a net benefit.
As to why 6 FPA on D2R may be so much slower clearing areas than 6 FPA was on LoD, WW also sees the -speed from Decrepify and Chill as off-weapon IAS that it counts, so if you are clearing Chaos and spending a lot of time being decrepified, your 115 IAS on TM drops you down to the 95 IAS Breakpoint which is only 10 FPA! So dropping from 6 FPA to 10 FPA will be a pretty big damage loss. Add Chill on top of it, and your 115 IAS results in 23 FPA.
In LoD being chilled or slowed from decrep was actually a damage increase, you moved slower for more hits on target before you passed out of range, but your WW FPA didn’t decrease. Now, it’s a big debuff. So many WW barbs didn’t run CBF before, but now it’s mandatory to at least remove the slow from Chilled (Can’t really do anything about Holy Freeze or Decrepify).
So yeah, I agree I really wish they’d do another pass at WW since the off-weapon IAS change is actually a nerf in many situations.
For progression it’s not all bad though, it allows Insight Partizan or Bonesnap to be faster than it would have been. Partizan with say, 30 IAS from 2 piece Sigons, gets 7 FPA vs. 12 FPA in LOD. Bonesnap is same base speed 10, so same deal. 2 IAS gets you 9 FPA, so even Bloodfist or Arctic gloves would get you a pretty hefty improvement over the 12 FPA from LoD.
The problem is that there’s so many “end game” situations where it’s a nerf.
Are we going to get anything relevant one day? Other than patches that break the game.
Imagine melee and 2h was trash tier in D2LoD then…,
in d2r they nerfed it even MOAARRR ![]()
