I been playing this game since the early 2000s and just recently i was in act 1 catacombs and the act 3 stygian dolls were there but they were called ratmen, any one ever see these before
i googled it fast and found this video from 2016, there was ratmen ingame.
don’t remember if i saw them ot not but i would bet u just forgot (like me) that they was already in d2 2003 too.
This is a Mandela Effect thing because I didn’t recall them either in the catacombs. The doll mechanics are more difficult than act 1 stuff. Next thing, we’ll have souls in the catacombs and videos from 2016 showing them.

They are only in cata 1 that’s why you will almost never encounter them unless walking norm difficulty on a fresh ladder start (or single player).
normally we all get cata 2 wp in norm from a player who was already obtained it. it’s incredibly rare to find yourself in cata 1 in this game 
they have always been there, and they are fetish… not dolls… dolls explode and are skele version
They were definitely in the game… I was playing LOD up until D2R and they have always been there.
