New long awaited Unique

We don’t have a Unique Colossus Sword. Would be nice if they came out with one that beats out Grief but make it harder to find that Tyraels Might.

no unique will ever beat greif, nor should they. endgame rw should always be better than uniques

Should not, considering how easy a grief is to obtain. The only runewords that should beat out uniques are ones that have like ALL really high runes. Last Wish for example.

Edit: there would be only a limited number of classes/specs that could really use the Colossus sword anyway. Barbarian, Paladin, Druid. Other classes would have no need for the sword.

Surprisingly enough, I do agree with this statement. Though I wouldn’t be bothered to see the ultra rare elite tier uniques compete (cough Tyreals Might cough) The runes and the bases are the chase items.

Grief comes with a cost beyond the fact it only requires one high rune. That cost is priority of builds of what you plan on creating due to Lo rune being featured in many high end runewords. If you don’t play melee beyond an Uber Smiter, you don’t need Grief and that Lo would be better spent on Fortitude. If you want to create a Dragondin, you are probably saving those Lo Runes for double Dragon as opposed to Grief.

… greif takes a Lo rune…

that’s alone is worth more than any unique in the game… with some rare exceptions of perfectly rolled extremely rare ones like griffon’s.

no normally rolled unique in the game is worth more than Lo/Ber/ Jah.

precisely because no unique can hold a candle to how strong runewords are.

Unless they actually created new uniques that beat out runewords like you said Griffons. We could really use more items like that. Yea it would change the economy in a way but only towards the new unique items. But back to my original topic I would still like to see a Unique Colossus Sword created.

just make it spawn 1-3 sockets
and if it gets 3 sockets and you but OHM OHM OHM in it its better then greif

i mean its possible for a high amount of sockets in a weapon with good stats, maybe with self repair that could spawn eth, and had ias deadly stike, and some small amount of open wounds, its possible

but greif is insaly op

it has ignored targets defense so u dont need attack rating on anyting except bosses, it has ias
it has deadly strike and preventr monster heal

it has life after kill and an insant amount of damage done towards demons

litterally every single stat it has on it is useful with the lone exception of the Ral’ runes 5-30 damage which.
there is a reason its hard to beat.

plus becuase it add “flat” damage it can be put in the fastest base in the game… phase blade… which is also indy.

if greif too good? yes… it is… but melee’s problem is the lack of aoe’s atm.

im all for adding uniques to missing slots, but they certainyl dont need to be nearff the level of greif

Could even do some repeat slots, Sacred Armor could either be Templars or Tyraels after all.

Could also make Magefist similar to Ormus. Fire/light/cold/poison

You’d need 40 ohms to provide enough ed on a colossus sword to compete with Grief.

i mean this wouldnt be any CS… the 4 OHM would put it over the top?

The lowest min damage Grief rolls in a Phase Blade is 676, the highest max damage is 760. On top of that, when attacking demons, is up to 185% ed added to the sword damage before +damage and venom damage is calculated. There are small damage bonuses as well that can be added using a superior quality sword and stat points in strength.

it would be easy to make an CS that is almost better but has 3os
dont you think!?

A colossus sword has 26 to 70 base damage. So that would have to be significantly buffed as a unique prior to filling in the sockets. If you look at the Grandfather’s damage, 4 Sur runes added still wouldn’t compete with Grief. Grandfather has up to 250 ed, add 4 Sur it gives the sword 450 ed. After all damage is calculated, including the highest max damage bonus, the max damage of Grandfather is still lower than Grief’s min damage.

Why? High runes aren’t rare. There is a reason why you can be completely geared in runewords by a week into ladder session…

The overpowered Unique Colossus Sword to beat Grief without the need for “40x Ohms” or 1000% Enhanced damage:

The Forsaken Blade
250-350% Enhanced damage
60% Increased attack speed
10% Chance to cast lvl 5 Amplify damage on strike.
15% Chance to cast lvl 10 Corpse explosion on strike.
Requirements +30% (236 Str, 123 Dex)
Drain health -50
1-3 Open sockets
Repairs 1 in 4 durability

May be bit overpowered.
But can spawn Ethereal so 5% chance or 1 of 20 swords will be ethereal.
Then 250-350% range is a lot of range too.
Then 1-3 sockets so 33% chance to get 3 sockets for maximum effect.
Eth 5% x 3os 33% = 1,65% chance to drop it on top of droping Unique Colossus Sword.

So getting one such sword online would be quite rare, but attainable at very high price.

so a perfect eth roll on that with 3x ohm would be 234-630 on the weapon when duel wielding (barb only)

and 549-1089 when used as a 2 handed sword
certainly not bad at all

certainly hits harder than botd

unique CS would be nice. extra nice if it isn´t frickin lvl 81 req!

Yeah sounds bit too much. My idea was that the main killer would be Amp dmg + Corpse explosion procs. CE immenselly helps with AoE clear for melee character.

Idea behind was that a dmg of Grief is 400 dmg avg. But in Hell most monsters have like 33% physical res or less or higher, specially undeads.
So in the end you hit for 400 x 0,66 = 264 dmg enhanced by skills and gear.

BUT with Forsaken Blade above IT SHOULD (if it was just 100-200% ed only) deal around 250 avg. dmg. But with Amp dmg, reducing physical res of monster TO -100% upto like -66%. Thats 250 x 1,66 = 415 dmg. One-hand.
