New expansion and difficulty : Heaven

new armors , new levels , levels in levels , area’s in area’s portal’s that may lead somewhere different

diablo 2 - 20 years later - diablo 3 — maybe something in-between these 20 years

act 6 , act 7 , act 8 act 9 act 10 ? angel bosses , more prime or lesser evil’s

after hell , i think — Heaven — would be logical . as a new difficulty

rework the hell and heaven difficulty — the d2r game ends around 70-85 and a long struggling long long time to reach anything over 85 and above — it takes a long time to get to 90-99 .

heaven difficulty —- 80- 85 to - 95 max ( or something inbetween that ) maybe save those last couple levels for the try hard’s as it is already hard enough to level in the 90’s anyway .

hmmmmmm i think thats about it ?

You know what would be even better? Going back in time and getting an actual quality team or even the original to make a true sequel to D2. We never got a sequel.

I remember games like Heroes of Might and Magic or Close Combat series would come out with sequels, and each version would be an iteration and evolution of the previous. It would be the same game, just with added components, new features, and remove those features that were just bad. THAT is what should have been D3. Itemization, drop rates, Dclone, Ubers, AND skills & stats (and runewords) should have existed along with new items, maybe different or additional Dclone events and means to spawn, Ubers that dropped an actual worthwhile item, and yes stats and skills that were an evolution of the previous. Not a dumbing down to make the game as frictionless as possible.

And this is how we get to D4. Friction, done away with. Waiting for the day they don’t even bother with having us level and get XP, maybe just start out at Paragon 200. “Ubers” and Mythics are an insult and embarrassment to D2, but hey getting to Durry is now even MORE frictionless!

So we had the maps, we had the areas, we had the acts, what was missing was a quality team to make a Diablo game. THIS was repeated with D4 and hence why a week into every season the kiddies whine about endgame because there is truly nothing to do.

Let’s do new acts but in Diablo 5. D2 story is finished and it’s fine. Blizz should make a game based on D1 or D2 instead of D3.

D5 will be D4 2.0

D4 is already built on this modern engine with its modern grind systems in place.

Just doesn’t feel the same. I played all of preseason and early Season 1 and quit to go back to D2R.

D2R was a very profitable venture for Blizzard. I just wish some of that money got re-invested back into it’s development.

But it will never happen. It’s part of their “Classic” catalog, so it will forever be in maintenance mode.

All D2 Players need is Classic as 1.06, LoD as 1.09 and separated 1.10+ as free dlc.

Classic is empty and completely dead, so why dont give ppl chace to feel some nostalgia with Original gameplay: no syn, no cds, good rares, hard gameplay… and ofc original char screen.

D2 ended with 1.09 so it should be standard patch for LoD.

… then in dlc version aka current 1.10+ they could add whatever they want, firstly they added Spirit and other broken stuff, then Sh1tsaic, then they could spiritsaic 5.0, no1 would care.

Ironically my argument to current D4 fanbois is expect to be disappointed. D5 will most likely not be a D4 2.0, but some other monstrosity whose sole purpose is to reach some metrics with whatever the kiddies enjoy at that time (would not put it past Blizzard to have D5 set in modern times with machine guns if that is the hip cool thing du jour).

Who knows, maybe in D5 they will have Runewords where El+Sol+Dol+Lo gives you a heavy tank with 155mm gun.

honestly its kinda funny you say this.. becuase most people dont remember ( or never knew), but before the current d3 was released , blizzard north was actually working on d3. and there are screenshots of heaven in it and thier similar to d2’s sprite style before it was scrapped and remade in 3d by the new team with blizzard north was dissolved

What in Microsoft’s history has ever made you believe they could buy a studio and make a proper expansion?

you clearly dont already know, like i know, that D4’s next expansion is Heaven and the paladin class.

i wish they’d dump that trash game and focus on expanding D2, but this is blizzard we’re talking about. they are more interested in “diversity and inclusion” than talent. Just shows how dumb corporate leaders are, especially the Blizzard CEO. I mean if we’re talking about the future, are we going to need the same amount of blue robot programmers as red robot programmers? jeezus, i can’t wait for Terminator to happen.

Said and written about it before, many times. The problem is people. The original team is gone. So, the new guys are just not the same. They dont know and dont want to know. They havent had the experience and do not have clear opinions. They only know whats trending. They cant make a great game because they dont know, never knew what a great game is. They are probably not gamers even.

Even with new people they should still be able to have accomplished the task. Instead it was their ego. It was the ego of certain individual with D3 that thought he knew better, that the wheel (WHICH WAS NOT BROKEN!!!) should be reinvented in his grand vision. How did that turn out?

The D4 devs, there was absolutely nothing stopping them from taking a deep look into D2, what worked and what did not, why X, Y, or Z did work and expand upon it. Instead D4, like D3, just wanted to create shallow trash that could be used for greedy monetization from RMT AH to today’s cashshop.

Like a film where they can chose to make a sequel, or a reboot. D3 was not a sequel, it was a reboot sold as a sequel. D4 was sold as a sequel, and ended up a reboot.

I agree

LOL - they don’t need the old team! The tools are sitting right in front of their face! They struggle because the original writers had a different wat of coding that the new team could not figure out! their were a few modifications they could do without screwing it all up! We live in different times NOW! If they wanted to do it, it could be done at half the cost and a quarter of the price! The are just missing something! IQ - Really - it’s a cakewalk that has the potential to take every D2, D3 and D4 players to buy MULTIPLE copies! Remember when you owned 5 or 6 copies of LoD? I do! But these companies are all the same, let it burn and head to the drawing board! There is something to be said about the Classics! Sad it lacks the little attention it needs!

They need the old team because the new team’s ideas are garbage. Look at D3, D4, or WoW. All they hire are Reddit mods and pink-haired freaks who cannot make good games. If Blizzard touches D2, they will ruin it. Stop asking for changes and additions. The game is perfect the way it is.

Yeah, that’s never gonna happen. There are other versions of the game just play one of those? Why change the base game? Let the game stay in its original form.

Its no longer Original form, still very discutable which form is real Original:

  • 1.06 Classic last patch - probably the best game version as ARPG horror game, their real vision;
  • 1.09d last patch from BlizzarNorth - aka H&Slash crafting game for masses;
  • 1.10 patch mod created by PeterHu guy and his vision (probably inspired by elements from D2 exp2 or their D3 alpha), for hardcore fans;
  • 1.13d final patch from BliizzSouth, inspired by H&S new standards;
  • D2R Sh1tsaic newest BlizzSouth D3 in D2 aka modern D3/4 vision.

I do not believe that the game needs a full new act. What I would personally like to see is a new difficulty where the entire world is terrorized (maybe unlocking once you have a standard of heroes or just beating baal on hell.) Along with this, adding extra tiles to many of the random maps throughout the game on this terrorized difficulty. IE just making certain levels larger and providing more elite mobs to make it so a single game would last longer.

Along with this, I would also like to see more secret levels / portals. Looking at one per act. Act 1 has cows already, but act 2 -5 could use something similar. Some examples below, but they could add any twist to make them cooler levels too.

Act 2 - Arcane Prison. Just a bigger more open arcane sanctuary like map. (piece to open drops off chest for cube)

Act 3 - Flayer Village. Big flayer jungle like map with camps. (piece to open drops off gidbinn)

Act 4 - Hellfire planes. Similar to planes of despair, just large and higher density(piece drops off hellforge)

Act 5 - Arreats Shadow - Similar to any other outside act 5 map. (piece to open drops off a chest found in the frozen river once anya is saved)

With these new levels, you could also have them drop items similar to keys for another similar type of event to ubers, but developing this would come later imo.

Other quality of life features such as 2 extra stash tabs, showing passive bonuses or stacking effects in the UI, stacking mats, and newer rune words focusing on helping melee characters with clear speed / density clearing. While mosaic gets a LOT of hate, having rune words that are similar in effect for things like the zealadin, fury druid, frenzy bard, and other melee builds outside of using grief / fort would be highly appreciated.

Using Cham and Zod, in newer higher end rune woulds that add value to them would also be extremely appreciated. To add build diversity and add some much needed spice to the helmet slot in D2r, I would also like to see a runeword that has +1 to teleport in the head slot, or even make enigma be able to be made in a helmet, with drastically reduced bonus stats. I personally do not believe that enigma should be removed from the game. But I think providing other healthier options for gaining teleport without such a huge grind to first unlock would be beneficial and could spice up the meta at the start of each season.

Also, fixing the friends / chat interface to be up to date with modern design and essentially building in the traderie website into the client would be big adds imo.

Alas, these are the ramblings of a crazy man, so feel free to disregard. But I don’t think adding an entirely new expansion, unless carefully done is the answer. As D2 is a very unique game when it comes to its core systems and seeing a new expansion could overreach into mondern game design slop that makes it lose its sparkle. Please disregard grammar. :stuck_out_tongue:
