New Endgame Content

The goal here is to add new endgame content and expend end game gear and viability. A lot of these are areas where teleportation would still be useful; but by no means essential. Which opens up a lot of gear, character and build viability.

It also ramps up difficulty form act to act. So if you can only farm Act I, the Act I endgame areas are appropriately difficult. Some will recognize some of this from other games; but the core concept is pretty simple. New farming zones, new endgame areas and none are teleport dependent. Making them viable for all classes (including teleporters, as it doesn’t punish/reward teleport).

New Items
Andariel’s Poison Vial - New item that drops off any hell elite in Act 1 Norm
A Piece Duriel’s Chiton - New item that drops off any hell elite in Act 2
Shard of Mephisto’s Bone - New item that drops off any hell elite in Act 3
Aiden’s Ear - New item that drops off any hell elite in Act 4
Fragment of Baal’s Carapace - New item that drops off any hell elite in Act 5

New Endgame Cube Areas
These are similar to Cow level in the sense that only 1 portal may be opened at a time. Meaning you have to start a new game to do another run.

Andariel’s Poison Vile + Perfect Emerald + Act I

Opens up a Portal to “Burial Grounds”, “Forgotten Tower” or “Barracks”

Burial Grounds contains Uber Blood Raven and 5 random Elite Undead. She spawns undead and is obviously stronger than normal Blood Raven. Uber Blood Raven drops a unique consumable (Blood of Andariel). Upon use, it terrorizes an entire zone (lasts until game ends). Example: If you use it in the cow level, you get a terrorized cow level. Has a chance to drop “Andariel’s Hair”

Forgotten Tower is basically the last level of the Countess. It contains Uber Countess, 3-4 Elites and a whole bunch of chests, armor racks, weapon racks, etc. She also has increased rune table and drops 1-3 runes. Has a chance to drop “Andariel’s Venom”.

Barracks is a large area brimming with random monsters in bulk. The baddy here is Uber Smith. He drops a key to unlock the Horadric Malus. Unlocking the Malus will restart the Tools of the Trade quest. Has a chance to drop “Andariel’s Claw”

Andariels Hair + Venom + Claw + Act I

Opens up a Portal to the Catacombs. These Catacombs are basically levle 4 of the Catacombs. These Catacombs contain a version of Andariel similar to Lilith. The rooms are also much larger and much more dangerous. Andariel will not be solo and almost any monster from Act 1 or an Elite version of it can spawn in these rooms. She drops “Andariel’s Heart.” (Takes a 2 tall, 1 wide slot).

A Piece of Duriel’s Chiton + Perfect Sapphire + Act II

Opens up a Portal to “Sewers”, “Maggot Lair” or “Claw Viper Temple”

The Sewers are a one level zone. This area contains a ton of elites and Uber Radament. Uber Radament has a chance to drop a skeleton key. The skeleton key is a unique charm that a person may only have 1 of in their inventory. More info below. A person may not have more than 1 skeleton key in their inventory. Radament drops “Duriel’s Horn.”

Skeleton Key
The skeleton key is a key that never breaks. Keeping it in your inventory will let you open locked chests, similar to the Assassin.
Gives one of the following: +1 Blink, +1 Telekinesis or +1 Town Portal (Spell)
+1-11 to a Single Resist (Random)
+1-3 to Maximum Damage
+1-20 to Attack Rating

Blink
7.5 sq. Range (+0.25 per level)
0.5 second cooldown

Basically, blink is like budget teleport; but can still go through walls.

The Maggot Lair is a 1 level zone brimming with monsters similar to the barracks. Unlike regular maggot lair, this one has 3, large arena like rooms at the end of it’s winding passages. In the center of these rooms are 3 Uber version of Coldworm the Burrow. One Cold, one Lightning, and one Fire. Cold, Lightning and Fire each have a chance to drop a potion that, upon consumption, increases Cold, Lightning or Fire Resistance (respective to who drops the potion) by 50 for 10 minutes. Each has a chance to drop “Duriel’s Tooth”.

The Claw Viper Temple is a 2 level area similar to standard Claw Viper Temple. The key difference, is the room at the end of each hallway in Level 1 contains 1-3 super chests EACH and a good number of elites. Level 2 contains Uber Fangskin. Uber Fangskin only drops Exceptional and Elite gear. Though his unique chance is no higher than normal. He has a chance to drop “Duriel’s Spittle”.

Duriel’s Horn + Duriel’s Tooth + Duriel’s Spittle + Act 2

Opens up a Portal to “Tal Rasha’s Chamber”. This is much larger than the normal chamber and is filled with Act 2 monsters and elites. It also has a versoin of Uber Duriel. Much like the traditional chamber, teleportation is limited. Just like Andariel, he has a ridiculous drop table and drops an item called “Duriel’s Head.” (Takes up a 2x2 slot).

Shard of Mephisto’s Bone + Perfect Topaz + Act 3

Opens up a Portal to “Ruined Temple”, “Flayer Jungle” or “Travincal”.

The Ruined Temple is a much larger version of the normal Ruined Temple, filled with Armor/Weapon racks. The Forgotten Temple is packed with monsters and elites, as well as Uber Battlemaid Sarina. She has a chance to drop “Mephisto’s Nail”.

The Flayer Jungle is a large, arena room with the Gidbin in the center. Once activated, it floods the area with Stygian Dolls, Flayers and an Uber Flayer Shaman who summons flayers and stygian dolls until killed, and turns into another Uber Flayer who is just hard to kill. Upon killing the Uber, they have a chance to drop “Ancient Gidbinn”. Also has a chance to drop “Vial of Mephisto’s Mist”

Ancient Gidbinn
Unique Mithril Point
Chance to Cast level 20 Poison Dagger on strike.
+200-250% Enhanced Damage
+1-33% Crushing Blow (+0.3% per Character Level)
+1-99 Maximum Damage (Based on character level)
Prevent Monster Heal
Level 15 Curse Charges (20/20)

Curse can randomly spawn as Decrepify, Amplify Damage, Lower Resist or Life Tap.

Travincal is a much smaller version of Travincal filled with council members and Uber versions of Ismaal, Torc, and Geleb. The Ubers just have a better drop table; but they also have a high chance (50% base and affected by MF) to drop “Ismaal’s Golden Chain”, “Torc’s Golden Ring” and “Geleb’s Golden Bracelet”. When combined, these items will automatically re-open Uber Travincal. They also have a very low chance to drop “Mephisto’s Corruption”.

Mephisto’s Bone + Nail + Corruption + Act 3

Opens up a portla to Durance of Hate. This is like level 3; but you enter where the portal to Act 4 is. The area is filled with Uber versions of the council members and a lesser version of Uber Mephisto. He has lots of super chests in his area and drops “Mephisto Tendril”, a 3x1 item.

Aiden’s Ear + Perfect Diamond

Opens up a portal to “Terror’s Arena” or “Hellforge”

Terror’s Arena is similar to the Chaos Sanctuary; but is only has Lord de Seis’s area, where you enter. Upon tapping the seal, it spawns Uber Lord De Seis, Infector of Souls or Grand Vizier of Chaos where Diablo normally spawns. It then fills the entire area with their army and elites who are very similar to their normal spawn. Defeating these ubers has a small chance to drop “Chaos Shard”, a 1x1 object that looks like a red soulstone. They also have a chance to drop “Aiden’s Skull”

Hellforge is a large, arena area similar to the regular Hellforge but larger. As you may have guessed, it spawn Uber Hephasto. Uber Hephasto has a chance to drop the Hellforge Mallet. If the player has a Chaos Shard, they can place it on the Hellforge and use the Mallet for basically a Hell Hellforge. He also has a chance to drop “Aiden’s Hide”

Aiden’s Heart + Aiden’s Skull + Chaos Shard

Creates a portal to “Chaos Sanctuary”.

The Chaos Sanctuary is like the normal Chaos Sanctuary; but the seals are pre-broken and it contains Uber versions of each elite, as well as a lesser version of Uber Diablo. Each uber has a chance to drop a Chaos Shard and defeating Uber Diablo will cause him to drop “Aiden’s Heart”, a 1x1 object.

Fragment of Baal’s Carapace + Perfect Skull + Act V

Opens up a Portal to “Bloody Foothills”, “Worldstone Keep”, or “Arreat Summit”

The Bloody Foothills are similar to the normal Bloody Foothills, except the catapolts are much more dangerous and teleportation is disabled (gotta run this one the normal way). They contain Uber Shenk. Defeating Uber Shenk, if the Siege of Harrogath quest is complete, will reset “Siege of Harrogath” to it’s second to last stage (Talk to Larzuk). He also has a chance to drop “Baal’s Trichobothria”.

The Worldstone Keep is the final level only of the Worldstone keep. It is similar to the other version; but with more elites in side rooms. Just like the other Worldstone Keep, clearing the last room will trigger waves of creatures from Baal. However, these waves spawn multiple elites and are not a bit more random than normal Baal. The boss here is Uber Lister, who only drops elite items (though his chance of unique items is the same). Lister has a chance to drop “Baal’s Mane”

The Arreat Summit contains the Ancient’s Altar. Upon activation, you will be bombarded with Uber Talic, Madawc and Korlic. Defeating them is roughly the same as defeating an Act Boss for the first time in terms of drop items. However, the biggest benefit is these guys are worth a ton of experience. Several times what a full Baal run would grant. Each has a small chance to drop “Baal’s Blood”

Baal’s Trichobothria + Baal’s Mane + Baal’s Blood + Act V

Opens Uber Worldstone Chamber. The Uber Worldstone Chamber is exactly the same as regular, except it contains random monsters from every act. Although there are no elites, Uber Baal already has a clone upon entry. He has a ridiculous drop table and has a chance to drop “Tal Rasha’s Chain” a 2x1 item.

Andariel’s Heart + Duriel’s Head + Mephisto’s Tendril + Aiden’s Heart + Tal Rasha’s Chain + Worldstone Chamber (Act V Hell)

Opens up “Hell”.

Hell is an area filled with a small number of monsters and elites, as well as all 5 Uber Act Bosses (Andariel, Duriel, Mephisto, Diablo and Baal). They are very hard to pull and will almost definitely have to be fought together. This is meant to be basically the hardest fight in the game, taking on the 5 bosses in their own territory.

Defeating them is difficult; but if done it will give the player the following:

Changes the Character’s title to “The Legendary”.

Permanently gives the following skills:

Legendary (Passive)
Only viable in Character Stat screen, under your effects/etc.
+1 to All Skills
+5 to All Stats
+1 Legendary Aura

Legendary Aura
Lasts 6000 Seconds
+20 Light Radius

Character gains a similar aura to the one granted by full sets while the Legendary Aura is active.

Nice work. But if I want layer after layer of boss mats to reach an objective, D4 is that way ------------>

Current Uber farming is about as deep a dive as I want to go for an essential item.

Alot of thought and care went into this idea and I won’t lie that it intrigues me. Yet I find that what we have in Ubers is more than enough end-game content as I dislike having to grind keys and organs just to get Torches. Heck Anni’s are easier to acquire these days if you happen to be online during a walk. The reason the Cow Level exists is because it was a joke from Diablo 1, although I do like the idea of being able to Terrorize any zone or Act. Frankly I find that should be the case right now as opposed to it rotating. That way we the player CHOOSE so as to maximize what little time we have online.

Honestly, the idea is a partial rip off of another version of Diablo II that may or may not exist out there somewhere.

its not only that they do not want to support D2, they can’t, even if they wanted

they do not know how

they are not the same team

they do not know what they need to know

and even if they wanted to re-do the game or expand it, they do not know the details of the game, the mechanics…

that much is obvious

it is one thing to mess with the config files and make some new runewords and entirely another to orchestrate everything, add serious content, make a new engine, implement things

yet, they tried to make a new, better (God forbid) game and they came up with D3 and D4 ! Which are (hopefully) somehow decent (?) games… for those who do not know anything about D2/D2R (and D1 I should say) !

thus, it’s not that they don’t want to help, its that they can’t… it seems to me that they do not have the intellectual and spiritual means to go towards the right direction… they cannot even imagine the blast (and the profits) that a new and better D2 would make…

and of course this is not about the devs, they have nothing to do with it… this is about the management… about the identity and the ethos of the company…

: D

New content for D2R (other than seasons) most likely will never happen. The lack of development on this game already shows this.

However, if they improve D2R it will most likely have a direct effect on D4’s population. Therefore, it most likely will never happen.

Not really. Not improving D2R has a direct effect on D2R’s population though. As long as season starts are staggered well, say 3-4 weeks, people can and will float between the games. It would be better for Diablo 4 in the long run for players to stay playing D2R and D3 once they complete their seasonal goals in 4, than to run off to a competitor like PoE or the upcoming PoE 2 and get entrenched in their seasonal rotations instead of keeping Diablo seasons at the forefront of their mind.
