Nerf/bugfix feedback

I tested a bunch of builds today and here are my thoughts.

echoing strikes as it is on the ptr does not scale in the endgame. I compared multiple different builds, using the best gear combinations possible to give it the best chance and its just very weak now.

right now youre better off putting 1pt in to echoing strikes. 1 point into blade warp and then using echoing strikes simply as a way to apply hex purge. putting the other points into hex bane and eldritch blast actually increases your dps more by a fairly large margin, even without using eldritch blast.

It feels like the main skill and its synergies should be more worthwhile. so i suggest reverting the synergies back to 5%, maybe even higher. the main reason this skill was performing so strong compared to any other melee skill was because of the multiplicative scaling. making it additive is enough. the change to reduce durability, adding attack rating checks and even the bind demon nerfs and lethargy nerfs all contribute to making echoing strike basically much less than the sum of its parts. so something has to be reverted or its gonna need buffs to be worth using. its a wierd skill because it scales off fcr and weapon damage and plus skills and attack rating and flat damage, and off weapon enhanced damage and these are affixes that dont usually come on the same items. maybe either change it to work like a normal melee skill if its going be bound by melee mechanics, eg durability attack rating, or not.

ok so the demon tree, you need to put one point in every single skill except consume to get bind demon, too many of these skills need hard points now and the dmg dealer skills have too many synergies to min max while still having points to place in blood oath, which is where not only the class gets its toughness but the summons too. so its like every build is gonna have to pump this one.

bind demon sucks to bind now! why are you making such large adjustments anyways this like echoing strike nerf is around a factor of 12 adjustment, over 12 times longer on average to bind a demon. clicking on a target and standing still for 30 seconds or more isnt fun or engaging. especially when they die alot easier now.

lastly boil blood nerf was totally unnecessary. please revert this. see how these changes all work together binds less tanky, die more, take forever to bind, need to boil blood more to do damage and spend more micromanaging positioning.. ugh.

thats it for today thank you for your time

The nerfs are a good starting point. I agree with all of them, except for the tiny radius on blood boil. The Warlock was completely stupidly OP, and is now brought down to still the most OP character.

this isnt a discussion thread

Es warlock is by no means the most OP character after the nerfs. It doesn’t even make the top 10.

so as a follow up based on a video llama posted yesterdat concerning es hex purge applicator build outperforming physical es. his solution to that was nerfing hex purge in relation to echoing strikes.

that is really awful advice. please don’t do that blizz.

for starters that version requires 20 more hard points just to function. Secondly as previously mentioned there are very few items that increase magic damage, so your options are limited.

the only reason it outperforms physical is because you nerfed physical too hard. you get very little dmg increase from spending points in synergy, and the only way to increase its damage is additive off weapon ed so diminishing returns. the net result is that the difference between a best in slot perfectly rolled everything hero edited character and an average junk character is negligible.

regardless if you nerf hex purge then people will just move to the next best thing, in this case bow lock, so then llama and the pther streamers are gonna be oh no bowlock is outperforming echoing strikes, and it does already lmao. so then theyre gonna be like nerf bowlock. then everyone’s gonna move on to mirrored blades with death sigil and then theyre gonna nerf that and so on.

so no more nerfs stop listening to the streamers. whats good for “content” for them and whats good for your customers are different things. remember who youre making this game for.
