the only thing for enigma would be change the teleport to charges but it stays and will cost alot to repair constantly… would that work for you?
In my humble opinion, the nerf to Engima should not touch teleport whatsoever as that is the identity and flavor of this runeword.

Spirit - like 1 skill really is gonna make a huge difference lol
Grief - single player mostly gonna be the same, but multiplayer, yay melee gonna kill things 30-40% slower, exactly what they needed to keep being suck
Enigma - wow pretty surprised here, you missed the +1 to Teleport
I really don’t see the point in nerfing those runewords. Melee already feel awful with grief, at least when you compare them with casters.
Enigma allows non sorcs to be efficient and not be kited forever. Which is a big plus in my book.
With the proposed changes, nothing would be better in the bigger picture. Gameplay would feel worse and people gain no value from this.
I’d rather have them rework existing items to be an alternative to the current meta than nerfing the meta items to have an awkward overall downgrade.
I could probably articulate better, but the “legit reason” comes down to the lack of competition from OP runewords Spirit, Grief and Enigma, which ultimately has a monopoly on this game and stifles player choice. Spirit is the best shield in the game and extremely cheap. Grief is simply too powerful and no other weapon comes close. Engima just has too many godly stats on this armor.
if you want to nerf enigma, grief, and spirit then you might as well as nerf CTA, Insight, and infinity. why stop at 3 runewords?
Spirit - Well, if 1 skill difference is no big deal, then I’ll take that as a yes for support
Grief - I agree that melee may need buffs to compensate and should go in tandem with proposed Grief nerf
Enigma - not touching teleport was intentional as it is the identity of runeword
we didnt ask barb to be nerfed but they did it anyway. if they do nerf grief then all hope is lost for barb players. instead of nerfing crap left and right, why not buff uniques to make it competitive against rune words?
so should most elite unique melee weapons be as good or better then grief?
But… They have competition? 100% without a doubt better competition? Eh maybe, but thats subjective to the build and what you want to accomplish. If were talking PVP, ok maybe Gried and Enigma is pretty much a go to, and maybe MOST players would be at a disadvantage by not using them, but its not like you cant smoke someone using say, BOTD/Fort if you are an experienced dueler? My point is, there are alternatives and you can be competitive with them.
Spirit has many alternatives, both weapon and shield, depending on build. I agree it has some cost bonuses, but It can only be made in 2 different shields, and they both have high str requirements.
Grief, same deal, I will use Grief for some things, then a different weapon for others. Saying no other weapon “comes close” is a stretch.
Enigma, same thing.
Its your choice or opinion that there are no other competitive alternates to these 3 runewords, correct?
The best thing the developers could do is nerf Grief, and in a parallel effort, buff 2-handed weapons across the board and buff a few lackluster barb skills, such as whirlwind, concentrate, bash, etc.
Or, and here is a crazy concept, they dont nerf Grief and buff everything you said so that Barbs have that balance and choice to compete with a 2 hander and their skills equate.
I have lots of options to choose from depending on how I want to play my character. I don’t feel like my choices are limited because certain items exist how they do in their present state. On my zon for instance if spirit only had 35 FCR on it and no other stats I would use it over every other shield. As long as enigma has teleport I have no reason to use any other armor. It doesn’t need any other stats, simply giving me teleport is enough reason to use it over every other armor. I always have the option of using other amors to boost me in other ways and same with shields.
Remove the skills completely and nerf the FHR.
Then you now have a choice between 3 caster shields.
- Spirit runeword with the high FCR and some FHR and res
- Splendor runeword with 1 skill, less FCR and some extra block + mf
- Lidless with 1 skill, FCR in the middle but with no FHR and no extra block nor mf.
Because any buff you give to those other things will simply push Grief further into an undeserved lead. The Bronze option beats the Siler and Gold options - that aint Christmas.
Nerf Grief - then play with melee buffage as you please.
Spirit - hahaha, I took it as a pointless nerf

buff all base elite two hand maces with +400 damage. that big Thunder Maul should hit very hard each hit with that 253 strength req.
