Need a ban wave to clear bot shops

way too many bot shops up at the moment, please give the player base a ban wave

A ban wave won’t do much. The “bot shops” all have safe haven accounts to store their items. It might spike the cost of the items a bit to cover buying new botter accounts.

The botters always seem to have Blizzards anti-cheat efforts one step away from being in checkmate.

Just do your part, don’t buy items from the the bot shops.

Naive to think (In)Active-Buzzard could not easily track these, even if they are using VPN, hardware spoofing, and clean accounts to do so… which they probably are not even bothering to do. The issue is that (In)Active-Blizzard is complicit and has no interest in banning them.

Better yet delete Lobby and Delete trade channels. Because (In)Active-Buzzard clearly has no intention of fixing chat or banning bots.

What they should do is force 2 factor authentication and any account with any banned keys has to pay extra on top of the game price.

Getting a new non voip phone number for a new bnet account is much tougher than buying a new game copy

Kind of like overwatch 2 honestly. Anyone with a phone plan can’t get new phone numbers. Valid non voip phone number on registered phone carrier. Copy overwatch 2

It’s not perfect but it’s probably the easiest way, but obviously any way will make some mad

yeah no thanks. I’m not tying my phone number to an online account so that they can get hacked and i get doxed.

There’s also the fact that some people legitimately can’t afford a phone PLAN, which overwatch requires (no prepaid phones)

Nobody links mutliple game copies to one account if they plan on using hacks/bots?

There are already easy by-passes for OW2. And changing your own phone number isn’t even that hard if you were dedicated.

But hey all of that would involve them trying, which they never will because Blizzard supports botting and RMT sites.

I haven’t kept up on ow 2 but basically that same system. Perfect? No but better than it is now

I’m not really an overwatch player, but at launch I remember the fuss about the phone requirements

Really though we need more than 20 slots and a bunch of stuff more than fighting bots. Probably too much effort to add phone stuff

I don’t think the phone solves it at all. They bypassed that in a few days. Maybe not super spread to every cheater, but it will happen.

I was typing a response, but I’m tired. Largely I think AI should be able to flag accounts when they’re suspiciously better than their own average or the top tier average. There are other things in D2 that would make flags easier too. Then a simple peer review and or company reviewer position could easily spot a bot. That would really deter botter becuase they’d get banned before ladder even started to kick off. But honestly blizz loves botters and they pay more for the game than you or me did, so they don’t care to actually get rid of them.

The phone req I think might have even been taken out btw after so many people complained. Honestly I’m not sure if I find the concern valid in the US, but elsewhere in the world a lot of my friends probably couldn’t register a real number and that makes it an issue. But then again perhaps my mindset is a bit more harsh and that you probably shouldn’t be playing video games if you cannot afford a cell phone. That sounds harsher that I mean it, but I think perhaps your priorities are wrong if thats the case.

For sure the QoL update, reverting all these dogwater dev’s changes except traps/shared tabs, and perhaps one or two more I"m not thinking of. Then actual character balance/buffs to get all classes to be viable would be great. But really they don’t care about that, nor bots, nor would they ban their biggest supporters. Nor do they care what their non-biggest supporters want for the game.

Bots don’t care about the character slots. Bots don’t care that melee sucks. Bots don’t care that TZ and Sunder are bad band-aid patches. Bots don’t care that PvP is dead. And bots run blizz’s bank account up.
