First off, jewels and facets have to be treated as items. I don’t know if that has to be said, but currencies should be exclusively for things like gold, gems, essences, runes, pandemonium event keys (maybe organs? Idk), skulls… Things that can quickly fill your inventory, even if for simple task. The ingredients to make 5 blood armors will nearly fill a tab, and let’s face it, you very well may throw all of them away.
Just my thoughts on interface-
I would think a screen filled with icons like gems and runes, or maybe a window in which certain items ARE stackable. Something along those lines.
As for limitations on currencies, my first thoughts were that it should not be unlimited. But then I circled around to crafting, and looking for 20ias 10% crushing blow, 3 life and mana leach gloves. I’ve easily burned through 50 perfect rubies, and the best I’ve made is 20ias 9cb and 1 leach (+16%mf so I’ll pass on chancies). A hard limit is needed, a limit of 10 or so doesn’t feel high enough, even though it would already save loads of space. But I feel like OVERALL you’ll have saved enough space on other stuff to be able to afford a hard limit.
I’m not even sure if this makes sense, I’m just trying to start a discussion, or at least put my two cents in.

Definitely agree with you.
If it’s a possibility, I believe “stackable” items such as runes, gems, Uber Keys, essence etc should stack. As for a limit, why not start with a 20 to 25 stack limit? Even if they decided to allow stacking of just gems and runes, imagine the space you’d be able to save in your inventory.
But, alas I doubt the developers will implement these awesome ideas.
Good call man and yes, your post makes sense

Based on what they said in the last roundtable, it sounds like it would probably be a special stash tab, and that’s the only place where items could stack. That would be cool and good enough for me.
As for a limit, it should probably be pretty high. It should feel like “unlimited” to most people, especially since part of the reason for implementing this is giving people more stash space. Having the limit too low would defeat that purpose. And remember it isn’t too uncommon for people to trade for e.g. 40 pgems at a time.
Other than that, I’d like a nice button that automatically deposits items from my inventory into this tab.

Please give credit where its due, you are not the one who came up with this.

I wonder if they do make a currency stash tab, if it will be behind a paywall

I think either a UI similar to how D3 did crafting mats (but with some easy way to pull items out for trading or using) or just a specific tab that let runes of the same type, gems of the same quality and type, keys, essence, and any other “identical” items stack would be great. Things like jewels or other non-gem/rune crafting materials don’t make sense to stack to me since they aren’t identical (although theoretically possible to roll the same stats). This should be a specific stash tab. No stacking should be possible in inventory to keep the trade off of inventory management, but some tool that allows you to automatically pull say 40 of something to your Inv automatically so you don’t have to manually do it one at a time would be nice. But let you type in the qty so you can do say, 10 Ptopez, 20 Pamethest, and 10 Pruby where you’d do each type of gem manually but say the amount and assuming there was enough inventory space it would move over. So you’d do 3 operations (in this example, one for each stack you wanted to manipulate) instead of 40.
I like the idea of very high stacking limits since the whole point is to free up storage space, but I could see that being 100 of a given thing and in a 16x16 stash tab or whatever D2R is now you could have multiple stacks of the same thing if you had more than a single stack could hold.
That might be more UI changes than they’re willing to do though. The alternative would just be to give us a ton of extra shared stash tabs since that would only require creating the extra tabs in the UI which might be easier than a currency tab then the extra actions to interact with it? Not a programmer or graphic artist so idk.
Many people have been suggesting this and similar things for ages. He’s just offering his opinion to start another discussion.

Credit to whoever came up with it then, I think it’s a good idea. I’m sure I’ve seen the sort of (currency) inventory I would like in d2r, just not sure where.
There’s nobody to credit for ideas like this. They’re common, obvious ideas that have been implemented in countless other games.

40 sounds like a solid limit. Based on trading/inventory limit.

I doubt that they will feature this. They are struggling to get a ladder up at this point. You want more space, run multiples on your lan to wan. glhf

I was hoping for higher but honestly that makes a lot of sense since it might eliminate the need to add more UI features that allow you to split stacks. Maybe if you move a stack of 40 of something to an empty inventory or just fills the inventory automatically?
I guess you’d still want to be able to split stacks though, to do different types of pgems, for example, so maybe UI tweaks would still be required to split stacks. Could be as simple as a pop up window that works similar to the gold moving windows though.
for some reason i was thinking of 250 stacks per slots. not sure where i got the 250 number from but i think its from a game that i’ve played lol
I like how it was solved on pd2. Also for jewels.
I think 100 would feel like unlimited to me, honestly, by the time I’ve used 40-50 pgems, I’ve used most if not all of my gold.I could live with 99 as a stack size. 10 would even be extremely helpful tbh, I just hope I can avoid the muleing keys in the future
A currency stash tab is definitely needed. Especially with a 20 character limit where you can’t just keep making mules like you could in old D2.

I personally agree with stackable items.
I agree it needs to be limited to certain items.
