Before starting, I congratulate the D2R team on their solid work with terror zones. This system has breathed new life into the game.
I am aware that established players with a lot of gold generation or big stacks of Ral runes for repairing via cube do not care about this or are willing to accept the tradeoff.
Here is the scenario:
-
I recently made my first ever Fortitude runeword armor using a superior item base, wanting to use the best base I could find
-
This armor is intended for use on a barbarian and wolf druid, who take a lot of durability loss, especially barbarian with berserk (0 def)
-
I find out that using this armor incurs astronomical repair costs - playing for less than an hour cost me about 1 million gold in repairs on this single armor piece
I am aware that repair costs for superior bases are much less of an issue on a bowazon or other characters not getting hit often.
My issue with these costs is there is no in-game warning or reasonable way to learn about them before investing a hard earned high rune.
Why would a superior item be vastly more expensive to repair? Shouldn’t an item with increased durability be more…durable? The current way things work feels like a bug, and is insanely out of step with other repair costs experienced by the player through hundreds of hours.
I propose that these costs be either re-balanced or warned about with an in-game tooltip so players can understand and opt into the increased upkeep. Thanks for reading.
